Prayer Works!! Republicans will stay home again!! They Will NOT vote for Mitt The Ripper.
mxccdd,
I would love to agree with you, but I know that the ministers/pastors always encourage their members to vote. They will vote because of hate against President Obama instead of love for their nominee.
We should not underestimate the power of hate as an emotion - it is motivating.
Yes . . .and Jesus would be sooooooo proud of the hatred in people who supposedly follow his teachings of peace and kindness . . . NOT !
I agree Ms T, it is sad.
I had a work friend that also attends my church and she loves to send emails. Normally the emails are encouraging and funny. The last one several weeks ago started out being that way, but ended with making derogatory statements against President Obama. I told her I was offended, I supported President Obama and would be voting for him and to please not share anymore of her emails. She said she didn't realize it was offensive at the end, she gets them all the time , that she respected my position and would not send those type anymore. Now, she doesn't send any emails and she has made herself unavailable at church.
Oh, well...
That women was wrong, and she should know better than to bring her politics to church. If she acts that way and can not accept your wishes, I would have doubts about her goodness.
Exactly . . . when I was growing up in a rural farming community . . . Church was the biggest social gathering place in all the counties around us . . . several times a week . . . as well as special gatherings.
But NEVER once was hatred of others promoted. Never once was politics promoted. Never once was denying civil rights to others not like us promoted.
What has happened to so many people today who say they follow religious teachings but live the life of hateful, racist, civil rights violators ?
In the Church of my childhood, we were Democrats, Republicans and other political groups all with one idea : Devotion to the God of our understanding AND Life, Liberty and The Pursuit Of Happiness for ALL . . . no exceptions !
What I have experienced here in the south is this fact:
People in this part of the country (AL) believe (wrongly) that in order to be a christian you must vote republican!!!!!!!! I have had that said to my face!!!!!!!!!!! They really believe that in Georgia!
That is the lie that many pundits underestimate. President Obama wisely has an outreach to the faith community. He needs to double down on its efforts to get the message out, that democrats are Christians as well.
I also, think the DNC is dormat. They should have an on-going positve campaign for democrats.
All the time when I was growing up the church was a place of love and forgiveness and to uplift the downtrodden. I attended the same church from the mid fifties until about 6 years ago. I tried to ignore what I was hearing at church and focus on the good things, but when politics became the main focus, like your experience DemElizabeth if you didn't vote for the republican you weren't Christian that was the last straw for me. My husband and I left the church. It hurt so much. My family was all baptized there, my husband and I were married there, so was my sister and her husband, our daughter was baptized and married there. My parents funerals were taken care of there. It was like losing such an important part of our lives, but we couldn't bear to hear the hate speech and intolerance coming from the pulpit, and we started seeing a change in the people too, they were falling for the garbage being preached. We did have words with the pastor and some of the deacons before we finally had to leave. It broke our hearts, but we felt it was the right thing for us to do.
I understand completely Nanette, I know it was painful for you. Leaving has crossed my mind, but I am going to be just as ornery as they are and I am not going to let anyone keep me out of God's house or move my membership. Much blood has been shed for me to have the right to sit in church at least once a week to worship my God. I cherish it, and I still vote Democratic, even more so now.
I absolute hate what the evangelicals are doing in their church with politics. I have tried to stay open minded about religions, but when they start dragging politics into it. I get a little un-Christian myself.
The republican establishment drags the evangelicals around as if they were a pig with a snout ring on a leash. Just say the word "abortion" period and off they go "snort, snort, snort............." There is no other explanation as to why they will vote against their own best interests.
I don't want anyone to have or need an abortion. It is a choice, not a mandate.
Exactly all of you ! . . . Freedom means the right for all to worship the God of their understanding ( or not ) and for none of the rest of us to make it our business to force people to believe like we do !
This means if you don't support a woman's right to choose or civil rights for gay people or social justice for people of color or fair access to education and the financial systems in America etc etc etc . . . then you need to think about living somewhere else than America because you are NOT following our Constitution !
Nanette, That had to hurt so much. Churches are suppose to be a place of fellowship and a pillar for the community. Its been awhile since I have been to Church, to attend. I feel its wrong when they preach hate. I guess I feel God is more forgiving than people are. I use to watch TV programs with church, no more. Talk about sheep in wolves clothing many are behind the pulpits and there words can cut like a knife. I know it was hard to leave, but It would have even been harder to stay !!
Thank you for acknowledging my comments Pam 52. I always value what you have to say.
Whether Romney is "unelectable" is mere speculation...
What is fact is that Huntsman "was unelectable"!
You're right Ben. We has our continuous monetary support here in Tennessee. Small donations had up, if so many people give just 5.00, just think how many thousands of dollars from each state will accumulate large contributions for him. Pleasssssse, no contribution is too small. This is how he had so much money before.
Right mxccdd!
Keith........ Your question of - How can anyone support Obama? I can support President Obama wholeheartedly because he has fulfilled the majority of his promises, not all, but a good many.
While he fulfilled those promises he has had to contend with the harshest, most vulgar attempt by congress (teabaggers) and the media (fox)to undermine his presidency- to the harm of our nation.
President Obama has proved himself to be an effective leader (osama bin Laden). We need to change the congress because they are the ones keeping this economy down -case in-point -their refusal to go after the banks and oil companies.
Do you also agree with Ron Pauls' belief that the Civil Rights Act should be abolished?
Look at GWB, two wars, no results, trillions in debt. GWB was the author of the destruction this country is enduring today, and all that while Bin Laden was having fun making tapes and trying to terrorize people here.
Obama turned Bin Laden into fish food, ended the war in Iraq and has produced years of continued growth in the face of never before seen obstructionism by the GOP.
A leader? He's a leader alright, it's the GOP who doesn't know how to follow and respect the wishes of the American people who elected Obama President with a clear cut majority.
You are so right DemElizabeth and OpenRange . . . President Barack Obama and Doctor Ron Paul have about as much in common as a brilliant star out in the universe and a slug under a rock.
None of these clowns are "electable".
The republicans have finally showed they are a joke. Finally, people are realizing this.
Finally James Sanderson is saying what I've been saying, IGNORANCE is the GOP's tool of choice, they want the American people to be as uneducated as possible, talk about oppressing people.
hi, open. this is why i like to hear what you have to say.
DemElizabeth you are so right!! Hey everybody, Judy W. had a very important message about Romney from her state! (PP.2)
Govt Walker we are now issuing you the Right To Work upon you. Meaning you can be terminated at will for any or no cause!! Go Unions!!
Edie = PERFECT !!!!!! Ha ha HA Haaaa !!!!!!
Walker is going to be a Runner!
Way to go Wisconsinites!!! You're almost there!!!! You have weathered the storm and gone from door to door to accomplish your goal. We need more states to step up to the plate.
I've said it before, Ed, and I wish I could catalog all of my posts on the internet. I agree completely with what James Sanderson said tonight. To put it in another context I'll use my favorite Hitler quote to explain why Republicans insist on eliminating the department of Education, and I am not comparing any Republican to Hitler.
His quote however, does explain their modus operandi. We must also decode this message in gender neutral terms.
Stagnant wages for the past 30 years is dragging everything down the tubes. Fed & State income taxes are collected as a percentage of income, and when the incomes are flat while prices increase the tax revenues are insufficient. To make matters worse, flat wages result in low consumer spending so the government issues tax breaks to offset the low wages and this reduces tax revenues more. The same holds true with Social Security and Medicare. The greedy wealthy are bankrupting the country while they blame the government for the mess they made.
Remember...several States have passed new voting laws designed to disenfranchised the disadvantage, i.e., the poor, out-of-state college students, uneducated, minorities, disabled, etc. This along with voter fraud, poor turn out, and those convinced to vote against their own best interest due to dreams of being rich one day will help make Romney, Next, and Santorum electable. The game is not to get the most votes, but to keep votes from the other guy running.
Nice, the GOP is destroying education in a BATTLEGROUND STATE... Way to go morons, nice way to make sure people know who's on their side and who's just looking to favor millionaires and billionaires.
SPREAD THE WORD!
Unfortunately, he might be electable. We must not take him lightly. He would be a terrible President, but could be a challenge to beat.
A Challenge? Not for Obama...
He's a challenge to listen to.
the "unelectable" portion has everything to do with the teavangelicals who will CATEGORICALLY refuse to vote for what they consider to be a "heathen mormon" (since I'm a devout atheist, I don't have a dog in this fight except for my ABSOLUTE disdain for teavangelicals on a "moral basis")
Mitt will have "issues" with Obama - he has his own skeletons in his closet (but less than the other 4 remaining DWARFS (all named DOPEY)
It looks to be a NEGATIVE campaign - no "positive" aspects whatsoever.
Mitt being unelectable has everything to do with the truth. He has never cared, done a thing for, or even understood the middle class, the poor, and those in pain.
Mittens is unelectable because he's a shell of a man with zero values and a plan that only includes lies and talking points to make sure him and those who are rich like him benefit the most at the expense of everybody else.
That's why he's unelectable, and then comes the real issue, ignorance, stupidity and indoctrination, and that's why Romney cannot be underestimated, he's a master at the con, so imagine what he can do with low information voters.
what else would one expect from a "vulture capitalist"?
Remember, though - when he loses the rightwingnutreligionazis he loses any chance of garnering enough votes to be elected in any event.
That's why they're working so hard at voter supression.
re: Lack of knowlege: Most people don't know about MSNBC channel 65 on Comcast cable because it's not available unless you get the Upgraded service...but faux news is available thru basic cable. They keep the truth hidden in most states.
Because Fox News gets better ratings, therefore generates more money...there is not an attempt to keep the "truth hidden," you act like Fox News is North Korean state TV...I have MSNBC on my basic cable. Get real.
Wake Up And Then Go Ta Sleep !!! Again !!!!!
Well we have Direct TV and MSNBC is the main channel that we watch. It is turned on in the mornings and we close out the evening watching Lawrence. Now we do watch Current TV during the re airs on MSNBC. We watch Cenk and Keith Olbermann. The way the times are set up we don't miss any of the shows on either channel. Fox News is a HUGE NO NO in our house!
Oh have any of you all seen Glenn Beck advertising his new channel on tv? I saw it the first time today. I think it is called GBTV or something like that. He said to sign up for it and you can get the first month free! ROFL!!!
Is he still selling gold?
Glenn Beck's 'TV channel' isn't really TV. It's a subscription website. GBTV.COM.
He'll 'give' you the first month free, but then again, most drug dealers give out free samples to get their customers hooked...
I VOTED YES, BUT MY VOTE IS MORE A PRAYER THAN A CONVICTION.
It looks like we're going to have a war with Iran before the elections. Oil spiking to 200-300 dollars per barrel will crash the world's economy.
Conservatives are going to have half a billion or more in PAC money for negative ads. Add to that the FACT that Obama in the White House is not a panacea. We need to throw the Republicans out of the House and out of the Senate.
Whether we like it or not Obama is NOT a strong president. He's an anemic intellectual, much like Jimmy Carter. Without the support and guidance from both houses of Congress being governed by Democrats, , we'll have at best gridlock like the past two years or at worst, a congress that overrules the president at every turn:
Besides, Obama is not w/o corrupt influences. He's raised a billion dollars. Goldman Sachs gave an equal amount to both parties. Obama's PAC is huge as well.
Romney will be a puppet for Republican agenda. God only knows what Obama's true agenda is.
The REAL PROBLEM lies in the election of a majority Democratic House and Senate. If we can do that it won't matter who the President is; But chances are Obama will be the winner in a Democratic sea change election. A majority Demo Senate and House will drag Obama back to the White House for four more years.
Democrats serve the general populace and their social needs: It's their base.
Republicans serve the very rich and a grudging coalition of LUNATIC zealotry: Christian conservative radicals, Republican war mongers, The Tea Party and the philosophical right wing who simply are elitists, bigoted or racist.
But problems outside the USA shoreline may create chaos in America. Europe is crashing and will soon fall into Depression. Neo-conservatives and the Israelis are herding America toward military confrontation with Iran.
We're headed for CHAOS a lot more rapidly than is imaginable to me.
VOTE and volunteer to aid those who are being deprived of their right to vote via photo ID laws aimed at poor, elderly, black, hispanic and youtful Americans. V O T E
God bless America
Let's Roll
Robert,
No weak leader would have given the go-ahead to take Osama in a foreign land. This has been down played by the republican base, but it is significant!
I do appreciate and agree with the majority of your comments.
PS. I love Carter
Obama/Biden 2012
Wrong, so wrong. It was a very tough choice to make, it's lives of US soldiers committed solely on the order of the Commander in Chief.
If everybody could have done it, why didn't Bush when Bin Laden was cornered in Tora Bora?
I tell you why, Because Bush was a shadow of a commander in chief, all talk, no action.
(Now imagine Willard flip flopping for days or worse, being unable to make a choice)
Bush was a war monger, he was also a complete imbecile, that was his problem.
And by the way, it was Robert Gates who praised Obama for making the "most difficult choice I've ever seen a president make".... And he was a W appointee.
Bush was a coward, no wonder he evaded service through the national guard, a trick he played to avoid deployment. Bush had no problem sending people to die, he had a problem making the tough choices because he simply lacked the capacity and the brain to do it.
Talk to send people to war, then his natural cowardliness kicked in. An imbecile like W can send people to war, but when the pressure was on him, he faded, like the moron he was.
No weak leader would have given the go-ahead to take Osama in a foreign land. This has been down played by the republican base, but it is significant!
Think the big piece missing here is the fact that the foreign country was also suppose to be a Allied country which made the decision all the more of a tough call but one Our President made correctly showing what a great command of Leadership!
fact that they can try and tartness or whine about.
Actually Chop Bush said himself that the capture or killing of Osama didn't matter to him. As for Jimmy Carter he tried to rescue the hostages from Iran. Reagan just bought the Iranians off
He said that while using Bin Laden to invade Iraq. You send U.S. Soldiers to die for no reason, you have a problem with your mind. That's why I consider GWB the most destructive imbecile ever to take office.
I will give credit where credit is due, and Obama did take out Bin Laden - which I am sure was a tough call, especially with his location being Pakistan. That being said do you think that maybe it was culmination of hard work through BOTH administrations that led to his Bin Laden's death? To act like Bush didn't care or was too dumb to take out Bin Laden is simply putting politics ahead of common sense.
LC
I will have to say the He didn't care part, well that's mostly true. as the last part we never found out if he was too dumb. as he closed down the hunt for him. which kind of brings you back to the didn't care part.
and yes there was good Intel gather in the last administration. BUT none of it though torture. IMO
Pilotshark - I really don't know all the details (I'm sure none of us do), but does it make sense that Bush and his advisors may have realized that actually taking out Bin Laden did not need to be priority number 1? However, through continued intelligence work (focusing on multiple terrorist cells, organizations, etc) they came upon Bin Laden and Obama decided with what we had it was a good opportunity to take him out?
Bush didn't care, in fact, he dismantled the agency in charge of taking Bin Laden. It's a fact, read about it. It was Obama who reinstated that agency and task force, and that's what culminated in Bin Laden being shot in the face!
Sorry, no, no credit for the moron who didn't care.
loose==Yeah; Well; Unlike gw - Pres. Obama Didnt Turn His Head In IGNORANCE !!!!!!!
Open - I am aware to what you are referring to, but to attempt to say that Bush "didn't care" is stupid and simply playing politics. You are assuming, incorrectly, that due to making catching Bin Laden not priority number 1, that is was not important at all. At this point we had pushed Bin Laden into hiding and effectively neutralized his power, he was essentially a figurehead, occasionally releasing propaganda videos...but unable, due to Bush's policies, do much real damage.
Like I said, I will give credit to Obama for taking him out...you are being blinded by your dislike of Bush and your love of Obama for bringing any common sense into the issue.
Let's not forget the simple fact that bin Laden was surrounded at Tora Bora. There were diagrams in the newspapers of the bunker he was probably in. There were descriptions in the papers how they would use "bunker-buster" bombs to get down into the bunker. If one bomb didn't make it all the way, the army said they would send another one in after it to dig even deeper. Everybody was waiting for the army to go in and get him.
And then Bush gave the order to retreat.
You can't scare people with the boogey-man if the boogey-man's dead, and Bush needed bin Laden to give him a reason to remain president. He needed to portray himself as the terrorist hunter. If bin Laden was dead, Bush wouldn't have anything to talk about. His presidency would have gone back to being irrelevant like it was before 9/11.
Published: July 4, 2006
WASHINGTON, July 3 — The Central Intelligence Agency has closed a unit that for a decade had the mission of hunting Osama bin Laden and his top lieutenants, intelligence officials confirmed Monday.
The unit, known as Alec Station, was disbanded late last year and its analysts reassigned within the C.I.A. Counterterrorist Center, the officials said.
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/05/04/973137/-Giving-Bush-Credit-Where-Credit-is-Due
but does it make sense that Bush and his advisors may have realized that actually taking out Bin Laden did not need to be priority number 1?
that Might fly and thats a great big Might. if it wasn't the fact that OBL should have been number 1 and never demoted lower then Saddam, which then brings us back to he really didnt care about OBL, as OBL had all ready done his job. unexpectedly.
. At this point we had pushed Bin Laden into hiding and effectively neutralized his power, he was essentially a figurehead, occasionally releasing propaganda videos...but unable, due to Bush's policies, do much real damage.
well the sad part is because Bush didnt care OBL was able to do all this not from the rugged cave in Afghanistan, but from a comfortable house in a nice area in no danger. seeing the Pakistan ISI knew bush and company no longer cared.
The Republican party destroyed our economy far worse than bin Laden had. bin Laden himself estimated he had done 1 trillion in damage.
During Bush's reign, he cost this country 10 trillion. There was no need for bin Laden to attack us again. The Republicans did his job for him.
If Bush wanted to consider himself a terrorist fighter like you claim, wouldn't he love to be the person to say he gave the order to kill Bin Laden and was successful? Sure the boogeyman is dead, but at this point everyone knows there is more than one boogeyman - Bin Laden is dead, but we are still fighting the Taliban, Iran is still a threat, along with numerous other terrorist organizations. We knew that during Bush's presidency - wouldn't it be a better sell if he could say he got public enemy number 1?
In 2002, bin Laden was the only game in town. Try to remember what it was like then. No one even knew who the Taliban or Al Quaeda was.
And obviously, Bush didn't think that was better.
Of course they did - everyone knew that Bin Laden wasn't a one man show, but the leader of an entire terrorist organization. Bin Laden and his organization had been on the public radar since the first World Trade Center bombings.
Everyone? Hardly. The general public doesn't follow those things too carefully.
And politicians don't have a high regard for the public's knowledge of foreign affairs.
After 9/11 yes...that is what dominated the news, and it was such a monumental event that people, even those who don't usually care about these issues, knew about Bin Laden, Al-Qaeda, the Taliban, and terrorism in general. They became household names that day.
I live in New York City. I had a close up view. I could smell the WTC burning in Queens, a few miles away. I could see the smoke.
And of course, there's the real question. Why did Bush retreat from Tora Bora?
How about, Bush was buddies with the Bin Laden family in Saudy Arabia. Osama may have been the black sheep of the family, but Bush didn't want to upset his oil billionaire relatives by sending their son home in a body bag.
Hussein, OTOH, was sitting on a lake of crude and dissed his daddy by putting out a hit on him. Bush Junior could show up his Pappy by finishing Daddy's unfinished business, and make his buddies fabulously wealthy as war profiteers. By keeping the cost of the war out of the budget, they could loot the nation at their leisure. As long as Bin laden stuck around as his BoogieMan, no one would question him, why was he spending so much to fight a few hundred terrorists?
Osama was more valuable to him alive and ignored, than dead and irrelevant...
Yes of course it was the vast right wing conspiracy and the Bush families New World Order agenda...yawn.
I never said there was a conspiracy... I'm saying, the Chinese symbol for Crisis is the same as the symbol for Opportunity... Bush and Cheney took the crisis of 9/11 in 2001 and turned it into their opportunity...
Mitt Romney is just not telling the truth about Bain Capital, his taxes, voting rights for convicted felons, job creation and many more issues.
That's hard to believe. He's been so honest about everything else.
Where's the tax return Mitt?
