Governor Scott Walker is attacking the recall effort with the help of Fox News. Wisconsin State Senator Lena Taylor and John Nichols of The Nation join Ed for analysis (Dec. 27, 2011).
It looks like Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker will face a recall election.
Recall organizers will reportedly turn in close to 720,000 signatures by the required deadline tomorrow (Tuesday, 6 p.m. EST), far more than the 540,208 signatures required to force the election against both Walker and GOP Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch.
“I’m very confident we’ll get right to or over that 720,000 number if not more, and how it’s possible, is how Scott Walker has governed," said Mike Tate of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin.
The recall campaign was triggered after Walker moved to curtail public employee collective bargaining rights.
But who will run against Walker? Democrats and union leaders still don't know, but say that's OK.
"(Not having a designated candidate) forced Walker and his minions to run on their record and issues rather than to run against an announced Democratic candidate," said Marty Beil, president of the Wisconsin State Employees Union, the largest union of state workers. "That was part of the rationale through the whole recall petition collection process."
Once the signatures are verified and a recall election is declared, a primary would likely be held in May, although the timing will be unclear until possible delays related to the signature verification process and any legal challenges are resolved.
Ed Schultz will be in Madison tomorrow (Tuesday, Jan. 17) to cover the signature collecting deadline and will have a full report on @EdShow at 8pET on @msnbctv.

Good== Throw The Bums OUT !!!!!! Terrorists Of OUR Homeland =They Are !!!!
I heard that Howdy Doody and Bozo The Clown will run to take his place . . .
The prevalent thought is that Howdey Doody will win by millions of votes . . .
And Bozo The Clown will run a bitter super pac campaign taking angry pot shots at Howdy Doody but still loose . . .
LOL
Giving yourself away again - affa - HDRK - re-reg- breaking the rules of the vine.
Who else will walk with walker? I hope some republican office holders.
Hopefully Russ Feingold can be convinced to step in and rescue our state.
OUTSTANDING JOB WISCONSIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and at the end we all hope walker is out-side-standing!!!
you still have We The People behind you all 100%!!!
Time to kick the crook to the curb! Out with radical, arrogant tea baggers!
Now is the time that many in Wisconsin have been waiting for all of these long months. Scott has no one to blame but himself for what is about to happen. His devious manner in governance has shown all of us the real person that he is. I signed the recall petition, I will campaign against him and I will vote against him. Maybe then the 99% of Wisconsin can show the 1% that we can't be bought and this is our country as much as it is theirs.
As an afterthought about Willard R. the MSNBC group should be telling the nation that Willard is really a corporate raider, like they had in the 80's and 90's. His capitalism is financial capitalism not business capitalism. Let everyone know exactly what he is. He preyed on business to raise money for himself.
They are telling - every day in every way. Unfortunately it may be a lot of "preaching to the choir." The people who need to hear are listening to Fox.
Will be interesting to see once the election department enters the names how many are duplicates and frauds. Some campaigns have upwards of 30% invalid signatures.
And we have you.
Obama in November / Gadsen Flag Man / Political Spectrum etc etc etc etc . . . strikes again !!
The only fraud was Scott duplicating Kochs agend. Rob from the working class to give to the rich.
Yes K from WI . . . the Kockroaches are hard at work in Wisconsin and around the world !
Wisconsin is finally on track to fiscal responsibility and a balanced budget. Now, the left wing loonies want to make it the next California. Whatever happened to the left's famous quote "elections have consequences?" Unfortunately, our great Nation didn't get a "do over" when the socialist Obama won. Fortunately, we'll kick him to the curb in November.
And in other news Scott Walker got the boot and tea bagging republicans went more insane then they had been.
Right on, all the Left has to offer is more of the same fiscal irresponsibility that got Wisconsin in this mess. Just because someone works for the government shouldn't mean they're entitled to jobs for life or perks those of us don't have in the private sector. This is about power and greed from unions. Nothing else!
Right as long as you leave out the GOP trickle down failures of the last 30 + years and counting.
Yup, Wisconsin has lost more jobs per month this past year than any other state in the Union. Bang up job Scotty! Don't let the back door hit ya where the good lord split ya.

Ed, Can you now start on Snyder from MI??? This guy is full of 'behind closed doors' deals and, like Mittens, he also likes 'quiet rooms' to discuss how he can screw MI.
I love to be a fly on Walker's office wall and hear what he's saying about all of this. I bet it would be pretty enlightening. Maybe even some calls to and from the Kochheads?
you can bet he is not accepting any land-line phone calls from any of the Kockroach Bros.
You bet Pilot, Scotty loves him some cellphone!!

Hopefully he'll get flushed down the toilet right along with walker and kasich. Fascism anyone?
