Ed interviews patrons at Milly's Tavern in Manchester, New Hampshire, during a break from the GOP presidential debate tonight. You can see what people had to say on Monday's 8pET show!

Be sure to watch the NBC News-Facebook debate on Sunday morning in Concord, N.H. The debate will be broadcast on "Meet the Press" at 9 a.m. ET.

Standing room only at Milly's Tavern!

I was there with Lillye!!! It was great to be in a room full of progressive people. Disturbing to watch the Republicans say only 10% of what they really think (we know how scary they actually are). My first experience with Ed, and loved it, he was great and very approachable!!

And they're dropping like flies... er, Mosquitoes...
We don´t hate republicans, only the hateful things they say and do. And socialism is not what brought the crisis in Europe, it was their imitation of the US capitalism
no, it's the fault of the hypnotized who voted for both those clowns. :D
wla,
our president is not a socialist.
you all love to call him that, based on the "individual mandate".
lets be clear about whose idea the individual mandate REALLY IS. as far back as nixon, the indiviudal mandate has been a republican idea. mark pauly, a republican economic advisor to the H. W. bush administration, pushed aggresively the idea of the individual mandate.
the individual mandate was used by the republicans to counter teddy kennedy's health care reform in the 1980's, and the repubs pulled it out again in the 90's in response to Clinton's health care bill. mitt romney used the individual mandate in mass. health care reform, and encouraged the White house to do the same thing, saying it "is a model for the nation". i am sure you have heard mitt and newt arguing about which republican had the idea first, saying he got the individual mandate idea from newt and the heritage foundation.
the republicans are running away from the individual mandate, a CONSERVATIVE IDEA, and one that has had STRONG conservative backing since at least 1975. if you do some research, you will find that conservatives love the individual mandate because the insurance companies get their fair share, and the individual mandate gets rid of "free riders". this was/is their basis.
i do hope you see the hypocrisy of the republican party, supporting this brand of "socialism" for many years, until President Obama put it on the table for health care reform.
wla,
so you agree then, that this is a "socialist" idea that the repubs/conservatives should NOT have supported and thought of.
the republican party is responsible for growing big gov't and big debt. reagan and bush are two really good examples of what the republican party is and DOES. they ran on small gov't and less spending, and then ran up the size of gov't and left us with the biggest deficits EVER.
the only time they are worried about the debt and the size of gov't is when a democrat holds the Presidency. especially after W. bush, it is very hypocritical of the repubs to all of a sudden become the party of small gov't and less spending, when they grew both.
face it, the republicans, YOUR PARTY, the conservative party, is the party of big gov't and huge deficits.
the republican party-calling the democrats out for what they themselves do.
the republican party-do as i say, not as i do.
LOL
This is all the repubs do.........Fail miserably.
Republican failure......AT LEAST 50 TRILLION DOLLARS.Global Financial Assets Lost $50 Trillion Last Year, ADB Sayshttp://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=newsarchive&sid=aZ1kcJ7y3LDMMost notably, MGI finds that:Falling equities accounted for virtually all of the drop in global financial assets. The world's equities lost almost half their value in 2008, declining by $28 trillion. Markets have regained some ground in recent months, replacing $4.6 trillion in value between December 2008 and the end of July 2009. Global residential real estate values fell by $3.4 trillion in 2008 and nearly $2 trillion more in the first quarter of 2009. Combining these figures, we see that declines in equity and real estate wiped out $28.8 trillion of global wealth in 2008 and the first half of 2009.http://www.mckinsey.com/Insights/MGI/Research/Financial_Markets/Global_capital_markets_entering_a_new_era
There. Fixed it for ya
rightywrongy. Don't type angry. There is no right to be wrong there are just excuses why you won't change your behaviors so you are a better human being and a good citizen. See a good citizen questions their public servants instead of just repeating whatever talking point their speech writers come up with and taking it that they actually said anything in that talking point. You know like saying they are for small government but want a cop in every doctors office and hospital to make sure the fetus died before it left the baby machine of natural causes.
Sanctorum may not be a total theocrat, he leans that way. Paul may not be completely out of his mind, he just leans that way. Newt may not be completely corrupt, he just leans that way. Perry may not be a complete idiot, he just leans that way.
Romney is not a complete fraud, he just HEAVILY leans that way.
LOL! You said 1945wla was right. No, he's gone. Another
rightwrong wing re reg troll banned, again. And now he's finally right.
Liberals salute the flag and talk of liberty and freedom with justice for all. Conservatives wrap themselves in the flag while thumping the bible and talk about war and "those" people.
I may be wrong but I ain't right.
Conservatives send soldiers to a war give them a parade welcoming them home and as soon as the parade is over the Sheriff shows up with an eviction notice.
Republicans care about kids, as long as they're not born yet.
Apparently you don't mind killing a woman to preserve a motherless child.
time out let me explain this to you righty since I suppose you don't get it
the GOP campaigns more about helping unborn children than living ones
they're running on a platform of outlawing all abortions no matter what while at the same time cutting programs that help poor kids do things like eat because obviously those just make them lazier right? Oh, and then there's the slicing millions from public education because putting less resources into our education system will definately help us compete with Europe, India, China and the rest of the idustrialized world. So based on all these peices of evidences it would that the GOP cares about children until they're born and/or become poor.
and your point is no one was talking about you....what you appeared to be communicating a lack of understanding of the comment that the GOP cares more about children before they're born as opposed to after
Actually, what I meant was the extremist anti-abortion position that if a mother is in danger of dying giving birth, she should be allowed to die to save the life of the child, rather than aborting the child to save the mother's life.
Which is an actual position the anti-abortionists take, and have tried to make become law.
righty,
what Chris is saying above is this: if a woman is hemorrhaging while pregnant, and comes to the ER, the doctor can refuse to do an abortion, even though it would save the mothers life.
this is very extreme, choosing the life of someone who could not live outside the womb over the mother who might have other children at home.
the repubs who LOVE this ideology believe that god follows kids (or whoever) into the back seats of cars (or wherever) and blesses their sexual act, driven only by raging hormones, with a baby.
it would be nice if everybody knew the dangers and risks of unprotected sex, but they do not, and even those who do, engage in risky sexual behavior. teenagers (and others) are dictated by many things, their hormones, their environment, by alcohol and drugs.
it is unfortunate that many of these babies will suffer greatly after their birth.
if the repubs want to outlaw abortion and birth control, then i hope they will be able to deal with the aftermath of what would be a horrible decision.
the best way to prevent abortion is to use birth control, because "abstinence", the ideal of the republican party is a worthy goal perhaps, but lofty and unrealistic.
The 2012 obama sign might as well say,"We are sheep, we are stupid". Things will improve when this pompous, corrupt clown is gone. The bias on msnbc is astounding. There are far more "working class" Americans who are NOT union members. When idot ed categorizes only unions as working people, it's ridiculous!
And the folks at FOX is fair. Excuse my language, but B.S. America only hope is to re-elect President Barack Obama. And get rid of those folks in the Hose and Senate who have been obstructing everything. OBAMA/BIDEN 2012
Things will improve when the morons get educated and stop listening to the fear mongering and Fox News' Hour of Doom and Fear show, hosted by Limbaugh and Hannity.
In other words, things will improve when people vote in favor of their own interests instead of this preposterous ideology of making others filthy rich and then begin for them to throw them a bone.
Let's see....
Rich Santorum said the mother of a little kid dying of cancer had to just sit there and watch him die because in the US, the free markets had the last word, that it was the American way. Nice. Where's the pro-life thing?
What did that kid do wrong to get sick? Explain how it's ok for him to die, where's the pro-life attitude? The parents? They screwed up? Sorry, I don't buy that when you try to make an abortion illegal to "save the life of the child at all costs"... so he can die in pain later.
It makes NO SENSE, just like any other extremist position.
If you care about kids then you care about kids, even after they're born. Period. Otherwise it's just a lie, a fraud to please the evangelicals, just like Santorum is trying to do.
Where's the story on Jon Corzine?! Where's the story on Solyndra?! The lunatic liberals embrace most everything that is wrong with this country. obama will go down in history as the biggest MISTAKE this country ever made. msnbc as well as ed, SUCKS.
The Biggest mistake 2000-2008!!!!!!!!!!!!
Abu Ghraib, Iraq, Guantanamo, Renditions, the US Attorney Scandal, the CIA memos on Bin Laden, failure to capture Bin Laden, the Housing bubble, the financial collapse, the deregulated bail out... Ok, gotta catch my breath now.. .that was W for ya, and you folks wanna go back to that?
The definition of dementia is expecting the same thing to produce different outcomes.
Only 3 years ago a war criminal (according to the US Army) ran the white house, just let the country heal for a bit before going back to the same crap, will ya?
and I forgot torture, destroying the credibility of the US before the international community, the Walter Reid scandal, the Bush Tax Cuts that according to CBO were deadly to the economy and didn't create one single job, vetoing SCHIP, providing amnesty to Telecoms so he could get promised campaign contributions, the HORROR of the Katrina relocations....
Yep, OR you could just keep going and going. It is no wonder the country was in the shape it was in after W. Another year of that and the country would have been a lost cause. It would have been beyond fixing.
OR-You left out The World Trade Center! The Republican party controlled the White House, the Congress, the Senate, the governor and mayor of New York were Republicans, and Bush's younger brother Marvin was in charge of security at the WTC!
Not exactly Strong On Defense!
No sorry that has already happened 3 times with Hoover, Reagan and GWB.
Republicans are lying cheating greedy heartless immoral bloodthirsty evil bastards! And thats the best things I can think of to say about them!
Not all Republicans are bad people, it's just the radical racists tea baggers. Although here lately it makes you wonder what has happen to the decent Republicans, who might not agree with your policies but they don't fine it necessary to attack someone personally. It's clear they are being lead by the radical extreme members of their party. It's so so sad.
I'm watching the re-run debates on MSNBC this afternoon and it is amazing they use the same rhetoric the blab, blab, blab liar, liar, pants on firer.....yuk, yuk, yuk.
Oooopppppsssss. Romney and newt are into it now......goodie. Newt started it, and Romney is firing back.
Now newt is back on the defence. Now the madorater has stoped them, and gone to Santorum.....and so on. Santorum decided to beat up on Hillary, and now has gone to Obama. Now paul is talking about our liberities and national defence.
Closing moments......Thank God.
Romney got caught at least twice, he only offered a mediocre explanation, and the crowd responded with silence. lol
Romney is a humongous fraud, hot air with a fancy suit.
Some Republicans are reasonable, that's a fact, but I guess you just don't get to see them often.
Woot! 1945 is BANNED!
That is he is ban again!
Yep! LOL!!
'Bout time someone took out the trash
I just wrote a crude thing about why I changed persuasions and can't no longer support the GOP. If anybody wants to waste some time reading, they can do so here:
http://openrange2.newsvine.com/_news/2012/01/08/10055185-change
Good job openrange. One thing I would suggest, is to change the title of your article to something like "Why I left the Republican Party". It will get more attention on the Vine. Your title is too vague. JMO.
Good idea, T.
OR: It was certainly not a waste of time. <s>
Excellent Open Range! It certainly is not crude, and it is not a waste of time! Thank you for sharing!
Open...I am truly sorry you have had issues with health insurance..I had the same thing happen to me. I have terrible health insurance because I am self employed. The preexisting condition thing in Obama care is one of several good things that needs to be done. Obama has a knack for doing several good things then attaching several bad things with it then he wonders why the GOP doesn't support his bills. Then he goes and says look my bill will help people with preexisting conditions and the Republicans are against it. Gotta go but I'll be back.
Oh, I forgot OR....maybe a few more Keywords....conservative, insurance, ideology, health-insurance, etc. There are a lot in there to bring attention to your article, IHMO. <s>
Hi TAP!
Obama has mentioned some amendments need to be made. Whether the House will allow that or not is a different story since they want the whole thing gone.
Me, I'd go for Single Payer, but the r/tp's will have nothing to with that. The Individual Mandate has been a Republican idea for decades until Obama wanted it and added that part to "appease" them.
Hey Kathie...I'll be honest ...I haven't read all of the bill myself...It is so huge and the language is such I don't understand everything. I do know that businesses are scared stiff about the items that are coming in a year or two. I need to do some more research.
I still like that beautiful dog.
Open...I gave you click #5 for sharing your story. It is nice to know were people are coming from. I can understand your position but don't agree on the overall philosophy...We will have some good respectful debates to come.
Man it was just a bit let down for me, that's all. I can debate politics and stuff, but when my kid was treated like he was a "defect" then it was personal for me.
Let me make a few comments here. When I paid my bill, I actually paid more, not much but a bit more, I had this naive idea that hospitals were non profit so I paid like $50 more. They sent a check but didn't cash it, it was my sort of donation to them.
But then I heard about this new thing about hospitals, as opposed to doctors, for profit. It was revolting. I felt like a tool for giving to a for-profit place.
But when you have insurance for years, never a single claim and they tell you they won't pay it feels you're being ripped off, private insurance. Then you try to do the right thing and insure your kid, privately and they say no. I even asked about paying a premium and they said no. They told me to dump my kid on medicaid, like hell that was gonna happen! You try to take responsibility, the thing they talk about, but you can't, they shut the door on you! How can you stay true to an ideology that's self-negating?
But like I said, when Bush just degraded the constitution explicitly, that was a bucket of cold water. I was told about it, but didn't believe it. I had to verify the story and when I did, man, it was devastating. I wanted him to get elected a decade ago and all, but then I realized I was just a fool who believed in people who didn't care at all.
TAP, yes, self employed people get trouble sometimes when buying insurance. I don't like the mandate, when I read about it I said oops, what happened to the 5th Amendment... but then I did a lot of research on it, and it was actually an idea that goes back to Bob Dole.... I started to investigate the constitutional hook it's got and came to a conclusion. Since it doesn't apply to those who just can't pay anything, it's just like social security if you think about it, you'll pay now, you'll use it later because you can bet your boots you'll get sick sooner or later.
What I do believe, this administration and even the republicans did a poor job explaining the reality of it. Obama just said it was good, no further explanations, although now he's trying to do it. The republicans just branded a tax.
Reality is better health care helps everybody, reduces the burden on the ERs and PWORA (Bush's mandate for ERs to treat everybody), and it increases productivity.
Exactly Open Range, the mandate will help keep people that can afford some kind of insurance from skipping it and getting treated at their local ER which is the highest form of healthcare there is. And that alone will save us billions.
TO ALL>>>> the CONSERVATIVES REPUBLICANS never - never lie on another REPULICAN, they always tell the TRUE just listen to the debates and how well they speak of each other-------------by the way who is the ( BLAB PEOPLES ) SANTORUM talking about??? wonder are they any kin to the KOCH brothers - brother of another:herman cain" mother
the only GOP that has a message is BUDDY ROEMER
Huntsman is not half bad.
Which means he's half-good.
If the Tea Party Republicans were as big as claimed & serious about their ideals regarding government bailouts, the unholy alliance between corps (they got intentionally diverted FROM that) and government, Roemer would get a big surge in the polls.
I am not a Republican, but I can get behind his message about money and elections/government policies being totally awry. There is something so inherently wrong about being excluded from debates based on money being raised.
You can only get your platform published if you have people with money sponsoring you? No wonder there is such a decline in U.S. standard of living and wages at the lower income level. Government officials are only working for those with lots of money? Clearly we can connect the dots.
Dick Morris had some good thoughts on Obama's motives. Morris was a Clinton conservative, and I don't agree with everything he says, but he makes some good points in this video. I've never been too good with posting links, if this doesn't work just know I will try to type slower nest time:
It is showing up now, let's see if it will post. :-)
Seemed to work for me, when you click on the link you should get one of Dick Morris' lunchtime chats.
Remember I am a fiscal conservative, but don't fit either party because I am for both abortions and executions. A forced independent. I think both Clinton and Reagan did a good job. Real nut case, I guess!
No argument.
Dick Morris? Really? He is only interested in selling his fictional books and working for Fox.
He strikes me as a big weasel.
On this debate, sorry to say, Ron Paul told a couple things that are remarkably true. Like when he said it's time to stop the revolving door in DC. Romney and Perry looked weak, extremely so. I watched twice as Romney couldn't answer and changed the question to evade it, then he just went so partisan Huntsman put him in his place with one of the coolest come back lines I've seen, and 100% true.. "Attitudes like that...". Also Romney had no answer for Newt's comment about his Super PAC. Perry was doing fairly good until he said last night it was time to go back to Iraq. Then I stopped listening to him, he's done like a pot roast.
Guess the GOP will just have to draft Palin!
I wonder if they can afford her.
Good point! It's hard to get a good capitalist to run for president. It's quite a pay cut, and for what? Lies and rumors spread about you all the time!
Every heard what happened to Cain and his accusers? I don't watch much political TV, just Bill O and Ed S. Especially during football season.
I know they GOP has people who actually care, who actually understand the problems and the suffering, some maybe experienced the pain themselves.
The problem is, they're not running. Why? Maybe because of this desire to get a radical instead of a smart, reasonable person who understands conservative values are not the same as plain old greed.
All that said... but Sarah Palin? Kermit the Frog for VP? Sorry, I meant Yosemite Sam!
You mean The Alaskan Screech Owl?
Yeah, isn't she great! What a record in Alaska as governor. It's about time for a good woman to become president.
She seems able to clean up the mess BO has made. Isn't that what God made women for, to clean up after men!
The 'Quitter-in-Chief'. They'll be a woman president one day and soon, but it sure as hell won't be momma moose.
I'm not a salmon, so I won't fall for that bait. :D
Yes but we want a smart woman so that kind of leaves Sarah well out...I mean draft Palin are you kdding I thought they wanted to win......This is a women who was governor for only two years out of a four year term and had to quit because the mean old liberal media was picking on her(sad face, cry, cry). Fact is you could get half of the republican party to vote for that women, it's rather clear Sarah Palin is interested in being some tabloid reality tv star not a serious politician why she keeps trying to pretned that she is I don't know but people really aren't buying it anymore. The only thing she's succeeded in doing was sinking John McCain campaign and making the GOP into a laughing stock. Her, Bachmann, Herman Cain all those idiots can just go back home the Republican doesn't need them so why they keep listening to fools like them I have no idea. Makes me thankful I left the Republican side of the aisle with zero looking back.
Personally I've got this little theory that the wealthy Republican party donors got her to be the VP pick because of McCain being in involved in that campaign finance reform thing to make the end of his political career a laughing stock. Now of course there's no evidence behind that of course, hints the conspiracy part, I just don't think old John McCain would have been dumb enough to pick her.....
Now on to Ron Paul the thing about him is Ron is like a guy on the basketball court trying to make a three shot facing backwards from over his shoulder. Now most of time he does make it even at all but when he does it's pretty impressive.
Exactly CC, Ron Paul is as strange as they come! I wish he wasn't a racist, too bad he is.
Capt USMC I see you think women are subservient! So when you say you want a woman for president I know your not telling the truth! In fact you think they are second class citizens.
What have I said to lead you to believe that I "think women are subservient!"?
I kidded about Clinton cleaning up after BO, but I was kidding! Didn't mean to mislead you. I believe in a woman's right to abortion. How could you read me so wrong?
This is the Capt. we are speacking about. He never realizes how he talks to the women on the vine as if they have no power to reason. He trups his own fairness as if he must be superman and if he see that someone does not want to listen to him any more he starts putting them down for their decision. Yes, xxx, you have the right person.
who is the blab people that SANTORUM was talking about??? do any one know!!
EVERYONE knows.
Perry wants to re invade Iraq! Mitt regarding the middle east, again Mitt will lead from behind with no plan at all! Santorum would push Iran to war and wants to get involved support of a revolution! Newt wants to have a long term plan with the middle east but has NO plan just talk down the president. Ron Paul thinks scansions are NOT the way to go and thinks it pushes Iran to the Chinese.
Yeah. I heard that too xxx ooo. Ricky can lead the way, along with all the other wrong wing chicken hawks who will agree with him.
Frankly I don't think the Republican party as a whole has any credibility on middle east foreign policy after all everything they've done has ended in bad consequences for us...That party has not only given us two crazy mismanaged wars, and appeasment of dictators and tyrants.
Look at Saddam who they left in power over there(GH)
the powerly handled war that launched to stop him from acquiring WMD's (that were never found), stop him from suporting Al Qaeda(although that government didn't give support them any more than every other government in that region), and of course because we found out he was bad guy(which we know for decades when we did nothing to stop him from gasing his own people)
Republican congressman having dinner with Qaddafi after he decided not to pursue nukes which the Bush admin. rewarded him with taking Libya off of the axis of evil list
in eight years they did nothing about Iran so now because of their total lack of action a nuclear Iran is a good possibility in the near future even the GOP gets thousands of our soldiers killed in anither war which they really would love to start over there
the Saudi royalty who are sharia law/terrorist supporting tyrants are also of course great friends of the bush family which is GW sat down with them a record number of times
billions given by Bush to Pakistan who is really our enemy which recent developments have made very clear although the evidence was out four years ago too
To expand upon that some, Remember when GWBush flew half way around the world to BEG and kiss ass to drop the price of oil! They laughed in his face, and it was just one more time the whole country was ashamed too have as president!
At least he tried. And he didn't bow to the Saudi king!
LOL
because he was to busy kissing him on the lips and holding hands.
LOL! No, he just held hands with him on a romantic walk.
He may not have bowed but he sure did play kissy kissy with with him! I was totally embarrassed when I saw that.
Nanette, Hello My Ridge Runner Sister. I really wish the whole truth could be told about GW/ Cheney. This country was sold down the river by them for sure. Say along with this, I believe GW was the first President to be invited to the Kremlin, Bush and Putin would like been fly on that wall !!!! Are you ready for cage match with the debates? Newt will blast Romney for sure !!!!
Hey Pam!. I had nearly forgotten about Bush and Putin. Bush saying he could see into his soul. Sickening.
xxx, do you have a picture of Bush kissing Saudi King? I have seen it a number of times on the net. It would make a nice Avatar
I have the last N.H. debate on tape and Romoney talks a lot and says nothing!
Mitt says China is STEALING Americas jobs! I guess he doesn't think the jobs he outsourced were stolen.
That's almost funny, coming from a guy who made sure jobs were eliminated in this country.
I thought the same when I heard him say that... Jobs are in China, and Mitt sent them there!
MItt maybe crooked enough to STEAL them back! LOL
I wonder if any of these clowns had a real idea how come none of them have even been considered, by anyone Dem or Rep! B.S. and deep!
I think everybody should have QUALITY health care. All civil service workers do they pay for it its not free it comes out of their wages and they have an open season where they can pick from a government SUGGESTED plans. Or they can get their own from the open market. NOT FREE Just as the Affordable Health Care Act (OBAMACARE) is NOT FREE! Wouldn't we all like to have a health plan that covered all the major medical types of things that may happen. Now many bitch and because they pay way higher policies and less coverage and a higher deductible. Instead of complaining and trying to take good benefits from some else, You should want the same for yourself. It turns my gut every time Dick Cheney goes to Walter Reed for a few million dollars more of procedures. After all he is a BILLIONAIRE!!! Has he no pride! I know he doesn't have a human heart! And if he did it jump out of his chest like the critter from Alien!
What do people in the Middle East think of Obama and past US policy? Its pretty clear that when Obama got elected they said "OBAMA the one we have been waiting for!" Why did they say that! For one he promised to end the Iraq war and bring an end to the war in Afghanistan, and many thanks must go to the Republican party for making such a big deal that he is a Muslim I wonder if that could have had any effect! LOL! Regardless there is no denying the success of the Presidents ability to do in a short time what seemed to evade the Cheney, Oops Bush administration.
Well the Muslim thing just revealed the influence that the crazy far far too far right people have on the GOP and frankly it's sad to see in this day and age Americans turning on each other because of religion. To GW's credit one thing he never did was try ti demonize Muslims after 9/11 because of the obvious fact that it would have done the country no good....it is almost astounding to me that now the antimuslim hate boils over and that more than half of the of republican party has got absolutely no problem with it
But these are also people gullible enough to believe that Obama has made us weaker in terms of foreign policy than GW has. Oh or that Obama is doing nothing on Iran and by nothing they mean not taking us into a poorly planned war which apparently is a good thing..don't how that happens.....even though in the eight years GW was president which just about anyone who has been paying attention to this situation knows that stopping their nuclear program permanately would have had to have happend in that time frame
Cynical Citizen, I read in the paper this weekend where Mohamed Karzide, has put restrictions on our troops in Afghanistan, He wants no more night raids and so forth. Also there was operation that was suppose take longer to turn over and he wants it immediately. From the beginning he has been a thorn and we give him a pat on the back and continue on. I don"t know about you but we can"t pull our troops out of that hell hole fast enough. Who are we to think we can change century's of a people who live by there religion and die by war ? You are right Bush did"nt demonize them and that was right. At one point they showed papers and called it the Crusades. A little history ,the Bush family can be traced back to the Crusades and the Templar Knights. Iran is a powder keg or more a Nuclear war waiting to happen. I trust President Obama with the safety of this nation but the canidates running scare the hell out of me. What really bothers me is the loss of blood and treasure in these 2 wars. We are the best military in the world and could of taken them out Bin Lauden and so forth with out 10 years war. This was something they continually harped on with Cheney / Bush about making this country safe. Well Obama delivered the goods !
Karzai is a brilliant politician and quite a sneaky snake whose managed to slither his way through many things and keep himself in office long past his term
What's happening in Afghanistan is the same thing as Somalia: tribal warlords fighting against a "government" authority for control, these tribal warlords(Taliban) are regional powers that frankly should not really concern us. Bush should made the same analysis Clinton on Somalia in not getting firmly stuck in the middle of their civil war. The Bush advisors(instigators?) have wasted too dollars and lives on that worthless excuse for a nation known as Afghanistan. From the begining that "country" hasn't been anything more than a place on the map, there is no government thus the side we were supposed to be helping end the civil war(war on "terror") was winning to begin with hints the thousands dead and billions wasted
What they(afghans) done us to deserve such commitment? Just saying.....this is why I laugh when the republicans try to blame his succeses in the region using some of their ideas with their own failures. I laugh when they accuse him of appeasment and getting involved in people's civil wars...now they are right we did get involved in the libyan civil war difference was we weren't intervening on the side of an illegitimate backstabbing government and we actually helped end it...no lives(americans lives ie the one's I care most about) lost
In short the whole afghanistan thing was manufactured by oil, opium and over zealous interests...
Now about the Bush family and the Knights Templar I doubt that is true....but I don't know.....makes me feel a little bad for the Knights.....
On Iran thanks to eight years of inaction there is no longer any time left to stop their development of a very simple technology(nuclear) indefinately. So I think we should hope for what Ron Paul was talking about in refference to how the Soviet Nuclear Apocalypse which was always supposed to be ever approaching in the '80's in how it never happened.
I don't think most people know they(Iran) has been working on that for over a decade and that a nuclear bomb ain't that hard to build...there was a hobbyist in the U.S. who built a near functioning replica by himself which if supplied with nuclear material probably could have worked...the guy built with scrap parts for fun
The fact that these GOP folks think that Iraq was ever important in the first place, needs to be some permanate outpost to stop Iran from taking the unimportant nation reflects their party's long history of blunders in mid east foreign policy. Every thing the republicans have done over there for some time has only come back to bite us in the delicate parts later....and now they want to do it again. Well I'll tell you why Iran won't invade unimportant Iraq because your pal GW(and he was from there side since they like to pretend he never existed over there) let them progress so far with nuclear program of theirs. Iran doesn't have the might to continue to suppress a citizens uprising, continue their nuclear programs and invade another country.
As matter of fact such a move would probably be the most potentially harmful to their hold on their own territory in other words there's a very good chance that if they did invade it would turn out great for us because their government would collaspe under the pressure.
But lets remember the Bachmann types would love a nuclear war to kick the rapture that actually isn't talked about in the armageddon scenario of the book of revelation that they love so much......a scenario which also would end up with the near complete and total destruction of Israel ie the nation they're always pretending to care about
T-800 Good old Mitt likes burning both ends of the candle. He made boat load of money and now wants to lie to become president. I think this guy would box Americans up and send them to China if there was profit to be made ! I give him credit for being good snake oil sales man.
Not to mention all his off shore investments, in secret hiding places.
There were some really funny posts here you guy. Thanks for the laughs. The one about Bush holding hands with the Saudi king got a real belly laugh out of me. I remember that when it happened and I though Bush was looking pretty happy.
Don't get Whom started on bush's ability to switch directions.
Well, who knows what goes on under the robes.
