Your school ranking system is irrelevant. Yes, we pay teachers among the lowest in the country. We also support them. When I would call home (as a teacher), parents usually didn't need much explanation, and little Johnny came back the next day with a written apology and a sore backside. I taught in VA, MS, OK, MI, and in TX. TX paid less, but I loved teaching here (yes, I stayed after retiring). We have a high dropout rate. So. It's their choice. Finally, a small percentage goes to college. Good. They know if they are not ready, and many join the service (as one of my sons did). Many (like my son) grow up and return from the military ready for college. I am unsure of which survey you refer to, but the ones I saw measured stupid stats like the ones I just discussed.

All my kids graduated HS here, and all are (so far) successful. Personal (only one person's experience, etc) I know, but it is also from a prime source.

I don't know of any schools Perry has dismantled. He, along with public sentiment, as kept the unions and their union thugs out of education, thank God!

Yes on an individual basis but think about this if you have lots of dropouts to do you TX and the US at large will benefit from that, more unqualified workers. Maybe is the Europeans and the Chinese were'nt going to college we might have a chance on that one. I mean what company is going to look to dropouts? None. So since if you have all these dropouts that will have a negative impact on your economy because there will be no jobs.

Our school system in America is crap. The students are not prepared for the world, the workforce, or college. If this continues our economy will suffer. Where do you think the people in China and India looked and saw that education can get you economically ahead? From us, back when we valued education back when we had a good economy.

The public system suck anyone who says different is lying or an idiot. That's got to change and cutting hundreds of millions from public education as Rick Perry has foolishly chosen to do will not help.

Well there's a couple of things to consider about the far evangelical right and how perceive the world and America. Now when people like John Boehner say that the American people are behind what they're doing(or not doing in his case) or when Bachmann or Santorum try to declare this a christian to the average person this makes no sense....That is until you understand that people on the right don't believe any one who disagrees with their beliefs is not American(which at any given point in time at least 60% doesn't agree with their ideas so I the math works on that one)

Sadly it is clear that evangelical hyper conservative fundamentalists would put all the world's homosexuals to death if they had the oppurtunity. Just look at Uganda for example where American evangelical missionaries help start a cultural firestorm which has lead to a law(or at least a serious legal proposition, I don't know whether it passed) that would have all alleged homosexual put to death for their gay-ness. The people in the country supporting it are a combination of dominionist xtians and islamic fundamentalists(sharia law types) and they're working together to kill all the gays of Uganda. For all the hilarious threats coming from the far right about the dangers of sharia law that must be opposed many of the "xtian" beliefs they champion would the same effects on this nation

Remember most people who vote for a GOP candidate are conservative. As with most TPers, personal life is not as important as performance. Perry has done great for Texas (have you found a job yet, John). He has a 10 year track record that speaks louder than any debate, or foolish ad campaign.

Also, conservatives don't "hate" gays. Most believe homosexuality is a sin, but know we are all sinners. Most will admit, there will be gays in heaven, along with all the rest of us sinners. We (conservative Christians) are against more government policies, including those that extend special rights to anyone, including gays. Rick Perry has done nothing for TX except cut money from education, add beaucratic nonsense to the TX(how did that housing authority committee work out for you, you know the one that they had to slash because it wasn't working), take money from donors and reward said donors with projects they wanted like a nuclear waste dump, take stimulus money and then condemn that very same stimulus

Rick Perry is the king of pay to play politics it has been well documented by everyone from Rachel Maddow to Michele Bachmann. Give Rick 100k and you do anything you want in TX. It's a good thing he'll not be president.

the only time conservatives want less gov't is when a democrat is president. where was all the hoopla about less gov't when W. bush was spending us into a financial crisis, put us in 2 wars, and CUT TAXES twice, the second time in march of 2003, the same time he was sending troops into iraq.

conservatives have proven since at least nixon on, that the deficit is always bigger under a republican president, just as gov't gets bigger. we have seen this over and over with republicans in control.

face it-conservatives are the party of big deficits and big gov't. democrats always have to come in and clean up the republican's mess. of course, we had no idea how big the mess was when W. bush left office. republicans didn't care about the blank check that W. bush had, and now the bagger/conservatives won't do anything to help move our country forward, proving that they only care about deficits when a democrat holds the presidency.

Perry's record doesn't indicate that. He's won every race he's been in, so far. He's been re-elected governor twice. Facts point to winner, Johnny, look it up.
