Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) has all the major developments on the payroll tax fight.
Scott Olsen, the Iraq Veteran wounded at Occupy Oakland Protest, joins Ed exclusively for his first live television interview since leaving the hospital.
Join us tonight at 8p/11pET on MSNBC!

Scott Olsen = Hope You a terrific lawyer = Hope you are doin' just fine = And THANK-YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE !!!!!! Its just absolutely Crazy that you come back HOME and have to face THIS CRAP !!! Unbelievable !!!!!!! BEST WISHES TO YOU SCOTT !!!!
!
I am looking forward to the Scott Olsen interview. Such a shame that this had to happen to this young man. I hope that the goon who hit him is found out and exposed for what he is. Lousy, rotten, corrupt officer. Rotten excuse of a human being. Put a uniform on some people and they think they can get away with anything.
Best wishes Scott and hope a full and complete recovery for you!
Will be good to here Sharod Brown talk about the pay roll tax cut. He is under horrible attack here in Ohio with hateful campaign adds the latest is by the chamber of commerce. This senator has worked so hard for us here in Ohio and we want to see him back in Washington to continue the fight!
Pam I have always liked Sherrod Brown. The Chamber of Commerce is notorious for negative ads. I hope that he is successful in his re election bid. I think he is a good man.
Is Sherrod Brown going to hire the (7) Canton, Ohio firefighters who are losing their jobs, due to cutbacks in the city budget? This is a direct result of the failure Issue 2.
Perhaps Ed will come back to Ohio, and help them! I thought not.
Perhaps Rich Trumka (AFL-CIO), will help? NO, I think not. The Union achieved it's goal! So what if some if some Union Members must be "sacrificed" for "the greater good."
The GOP threatened to vote against the Bush tax cuts if all the people(the wealthy) didn't get the cuts effectively raising everyone's taxes. Since then they've made an effort to portray any talk if higher revenues as Stalinism. In the meantime the economy hasn't gotten all that much better. So now that it's time to talk about a cut for the real job creators aka the middle class where is the party of tax cuts? Oh, that's right they're planning to show opposition to this tax cut because in the time we've had it they don't feel it's caused economic growth...
Predictable the Republican has now become a joke. How long is it going to take them to realize that economic growth and job creation is caused by people who spend the highest percentage of their disposable income buying things(the middle class)?
Love your comment ~ so true!
Congress is paid from... TAXES collected from Americans! Social Security has not had so much as a cost of living increase in three years... but Congress has voted to give themselves a raise even though their standard of living is well beyond the majority of the people they were elected to serve. When the government shuts down SS doesn't go out, our military don't get paid, thousands of government offices close their doors and those workers don't get paid. SO CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHY CONGRESS ARE THE ONLY ONES THAT DO GET PAID! Republicans want to get rid of unions. I would support that idea if the unions had the capability to vote themselves raises. Republicans say there are teachers who aren't doing their jobs. Yet the Republicans earn a hell of a lot more then the teachers and they aren't doing their jobs at all!
love your show, ed. i watch your show everyday. keep up the good work.
It is indeed unfortunate the radical liberals set out to "get" Herman Cain. No way did they want this upstanding, moral black successful business man inline to beat BO. He could have put him down where he belongs int he common trash! This country does not need a double dealing commie for a leader much less a dumb one. This is what you get when you hire someone to be president and they come with no credentials nor education. No business experience.
What BO has done to this nation is treasonable. As Dr. Glen Beck said today BO should be tried for treason and he should be taken from the presidency and prosecuted for single handedly creating ruin and waste in America.
America will never recover from his hate for America.
This man will never be president again as he will be voted out of office by the highest number ever seen.
Yes the "radical liberals" fear Herman's 999 plan which every economist nearly in the world has shot so many holes it's looking like swiss cheese, and his complete lack of any government or legislative experience, and his lack of knowledge of foreign policy. The radical liberals are so afraid that they've caused so called "conservatives" to embrace another candidate all on their own.
You I don't even know why I'm wasting any time to write this if your delusional enough to think that Glenn Beck(don't think he's got a real doctorate) is anything other than a fraud and pimple on the face of the conservative movement in America you're beyond logic.
Look at Fox News, the executives there who are communist satanists of course, because that's what you'd have be to think Beck is kook, dumped him like garbage from the line up because they knew he was nothing but a joke. A joke reflecting poorly on them, so they said "Your fired". Good riddance.
This has nothing to do with racism, Cain has never been a real candidate. 999 is from SIM City my son mastered that computer game. He used and is still using the race as a book signing tour. He never thought he would go above single digits, and as long as he wasn't a front runner no one would give him a serious look. I have a feeling that man s**t his pants when he became the front runner. That's the only reason all this came out, its hot in the spot light. If he were a real candidate you would think he would at least read the newspaper everyday, hell he could have done that while eating breakfast and during his morning constitution... unless he is constipated, which would explain a few things. If he did just that little he would have known about Libya. If he received the education Obama did he would have known China had the bomb. Obama will win because there is no one on the right anywhere near his level. Any president can be stopped from keeping their promises if they have a congress that refuses to even listen. Not to mention its a part time job with full time pay. Two weeks on one week off, yeah baby that's the life! And trust me they aren't all going to their states maybe out of fear of being stoned by the public. If level of intelligence or GPA were an issue Obama would have no one running against him. lurl if you turn on anything other than FOX or Beck you would know their viewers (listeners) are the most uninformed of all Americans. Only slack jawed double digit IQ's actually believe those racist ignorant lies. Sorry if this statement is above your intellectual level.
lurl.
LMAO,, thanks for the great laugh this early.
dr glen beck,, now that`s just funny!!!
well lets see if bush had the balls to place the two wars and drug prescription along with tax cuts up and out front.
but know he had no leadership so he hide them. then comes along a President with leadership and told America the truth, by placing them where they should have been from the start, back on the books!
so you are just slightly right.
Pilot, its good to see others are paying attention. some would call what bush did as cooking the books. i think him and cheney need to be water boarded.
Wow! You are full of hate pal... Try posting on another site that really cares about your nasty comments.
As soon as Scott Olsen appeared I cried. My tears are for his suffering, and out of shame for my country. I raised my children to be patriots and to be proud to be American! All three of my sons served in the military (2 still in) and all three have Iraq dust in their lungs. All three came back physically intact just like Scott. I can't begin to describe the mixture of emotions this police behavior has provoked. I truly hope and believe this young man will have a full recovery, but he should not have to endure the struggle ahead of him because of the police. When I first saw the footage, my TV was on mute I thought OMG where is this Libya, Egypt, or maybe even Greece blew up again. This is America, peaceful demonstration is our ONLY WAY OF REDRESS this is important this is why the founders felt we needed to be armed and be able to form a militia. The right for redress was enough reason for the revolutionary war. It was the first and most important right, so important the second right allowed us to be armed to defend the first right. We can not roll over and allow this right to be taken away. Scott Olsen deserves a medal for being injured while upholding his sworn duty. Even though he is a civilian now he still upheld the oath he took. Mayor's have to take an oath which also includes supporting the US and State constitutions, the same one that is being put to the test. Shame on all these mayors and governors who give such unchecked power to the police who use force. Shame on the police for not standing down and just be there in case they were needed. Telling us we can not gather in public areas to protest is the same as saying we do not have the right to speak out.
Why would you ever want to raise your kids as parrots?
lurl, be careful you are out of your league here. But just for fun lets play... you wrote, "he belongs int he common trash!" its easy to see you meant "in the" but what makes this sad is there is spell check in here and you still missed it. Now what I wrote was, "I raised my children to be patriots and to be proud to be American!" Second line check for yourself. Of course it doesn't surprise me at all that you had a problem reading, but when you are attempting to insult someone you should check twice... maybe three times in your case. Anyone who believes and respects beck, and is willing to parrot (see what I did there...lol) beck's ideas is obviously in the double digits. Go find another playground.
Yes Judith some of our elected leaders have "higher" oaths like the ones they take to never ever vote to raise taxes* or to inject "xtian valies" into our government effectively subverting the constitution. So sadly we've allowed our leaders to betray those oaths for some time now.
*unless those tax cuts are proposed by a democratic president or involve people who don't make lots of money or you don't technically "vote" then raising taxes is totally okay*
CynicalCitizen, I believe everyone of those congressmen who signed that pledge and then took the oath of office have betrayed that oath. The constitution states that congress will address taxes. The pledge they took basically says they will refuse to do what the constitution demands they do. They betrayed their oath by voting against even debating the issue. Everyone of them should be censured for at least three months. This is a disciplinary action that can be used which would prevent them from voting. Imagine what we could get done in three months with them essentially gagged. It amazes me that they would do such a thing, sign a pledge to one man agreeing to his own personal interest and ignoring the rest of the Americans they took an oath to serve. The other thing is the P.A.T.R.O.I.T ACT the author of that should be sued for false advertising... its the closest thing to communism this country has ever faced.
Here is what gets me. watching the video there seem to be around 10 people helping Scott while he was down.when one of th eploice threw a flash/bang into the crowd that seem to be helping a down person.i have to ask my self why that ploice officer would do this.that be like shooting a medica vac or a medic, while helping wounded.and they want to try and say this marine is a POS, i am willing to bet he didnt see any thing like that while in Iraq calling in medic vacs for his buddys.so who shot him with what guess still needs to be determin, however, it was totally uncall for to indange a already hurt person and the people who was there trying to help.
Special announcement for Ed and all of the Ed-heads:
CONGRATULATIONS Barak Obama. You have set a record today. The absolute lowest approval ratings of any president in the history of our country. 43%
You took the record away from Jimmy Carter. Way to go Barak.
Just 12 more months of this lunacy!!! Good-Bye!!
By the way...this is the official Gallup poll, not a conservative poll, Fox poll, or any poll from the right....for you who would argue that.
THE LOWEST IN AMERICAN HISTORY....43%....BY Barak Obama.
Oh, one more thing Mr. Obama. For you to go from the annointed, chosen, golden, great promises to the people, most popular president when you were elected....from you to go from that to 43% approval rating......man, you had to work at that.
And you have worked at it to go from what people thought of you then to what people think of you now. The broken promises, the lies, the failed policies and just plain bad ideology.......Congrats!!!! Especially to thankfulmom and whomitmay. Now watch everyone, when and if they respond...all it will be is name calling...not addressing the post. Everyone have a great day!!!...especially you far left Eddies.
Gallup
LOL
good laugh for the morning.
New Poll: Republicans Suffering In Tea Party Districts
PEMA LEVY NOVEMBER 30, 2011, 5:59 AM
A new poll from the Pew Research Center shows that support for the Tea Party — and with it the Republican Party — has dropped precipitously in the last year. Now just 20% say they agree with the Tea Party, less than the 27% who disagree. But the news gets worse for Republicans: their favorability has dropped even further in Tea Party districts.
This is part of an ongoing trend, with polls this year consistently showing a narrowing of support for the Tea Party movement. In April, Pew found that as recognition of the Tea Party grew, their favorability declined. Specifically, disapproval rose 15 points between March 2010 and April 2011. And as TPMreported in September, according to a CBS/ORC Poll, fully 53% of the public had an unfavorable opinion of the Tea Party compared to a meager 28% with a favorable view. By October, the Occupy Wall Street movement hadeked out a higher approval rating than the Tea Party.
Who cares about Tea Party vs Occupy nuts. Nobody. We are talking about Obama NOT going back to his big house and big plane in 2012.
johnny... i hope you don't have a final plan for yourself if Obama is re-elected. You do need to check your facts a little better. Those numbers don't mean he wont get re-elected. I voted for Obama and I am disappointed in him for not kicking republican butts sooner and harder. Im also very disappointed that the republicans will refuse to do their jobs just because they don't like their boss. Millions of jobs lost because the republicans want one man's job. They are willing to put this country into a full blown depression to make Obama look bad. They know if they approved his job plan we would be doing a lot better. The problem is the bullies talk too much. They said this was their plan and the country knows it. 2010 elections were based on jobs jobs jobs. what the republicans didn't say is that would work this hard to eliminate jobs. I am pretty sure that you are like so many of the right that say Obama raised our debt. Mostly because that is what Fox likes to report but the truth is that bush did not include the two wars he got us into in his budget so the debt he left this country in was far worse then we thought. Obama included the wars. Not to mention bush signs a tax break for the wealthiest prior to 9/11 and instead of repealing or suspending the cuts due the sudden expense of war he signs another tax break for the 1% and then declared war in Iraq, which was a personal war for him. it had nothing to do with our safety it had to with protecting his family interests in Saudi Arabia. Not to mention the family interest in such companies as Haliburton who received government contracts to what our military has always done in the past. bush said it would cut costs but it ended up being 10x more expensive not to mention the work done by them was crap... like when they electrocuted our men in the showers. bush was reckless and negligent and a liar! The other issue is one that a lot of americans know personally. when you have a credit card debt and you only pay the minimum the balance keeps going up. By the time Obama took office we still had two unfunded wars to pay for. No president in the history of this country has done that. so even though Obama's approval rating is what is there are plenty of people like myself who might not be thrilled we will still vote for him. But a better question for you is why are you on this site at all?!?! I get the feeling you are a mid 20 to early 30 white male who is either under employed or unemployed with a confederate flag outside your house and blames the mexicans and black people for your plight. Obama has the respect of the world... bush was a world joke. bush can't even leave this country because other countries would have him arrested and tried for war crimes. what i would like to see is this race be based on IQ and GPA's of course if we did that Obama wouldn't have anyone to run against.
sorry you haven't... pakistan was causing problems for bush... iran doesn't like anyone and they hated bush... israel on the other hand is a heated issue would they be so unwilling to compromise if they didn't have the might of this country backing them. I happen to know some jewish people who think its time for peace and that israel needs to stop killing and start talking. The wars there have been going on since long before jesus was even born. As for Egypt that is a civil war and if you paid attention in school you would know that we do are best not to get involved with civil wars. Check your math.. India, and all of Europe do respect this president. that is more then the war monger countries you list. and what about libya they are pleased as punch for the help he gave them. what i see is active racism and please don't use cain as an example that republicans aren't racist he was never going to be elected and if anything he was used to try to make sure no other black person would be elected to the office.
Employers added 206,000 private-sector jobs in November
so thats what around 3.2 million private sector jobs added, which is around 1.4 million more then all of that lost decade administration did in 8.
Well let's see unemployment after Clinton was around 5% so that would make around a +2% increase for Bush
Funny how political allegeances cause some to forget about the failing policies which created the climate for Obama's failures. Dump them all, all 535 fire them perhaps then Congress will be capable of doing its actual job(controlling the federal budget) instead letting the person in the white house do it(not legal according to the constitution)
Instead focusing on the past in which Republicans have also completely failed to help the economy the party would be wise to test its own candidates to make sure they have successful policy for the future so as not to be fooled again. But of course they won't do because they know no candidates on that side of the aisle will do any better. If the GOP does not nominate Jon Huntsman then Romney will be the nominee and he will lose.
albert, the reason unemployment is so high is because the republicans would rather cut government jobs (of course not their own jobs) than raise taxes on the wealthiest. Even though america doesn't look like a third world country the gap between the wealthiest non producers and the middle class workers is at the level of third world countries. i agree unemployment is higher then the numbers reported and this because its based on those who collect unemployment. it doesn't include those who's benefits have ended or those who didn't collect in the first place. But the private sector has improved a little while the public sector is being carved up and tossed aside. and the republicans aren't done yet. all these republicans receive tax dollars and yet they aren't considering cutting any of their own fat. the wealthiest have received huge tax breaks because they are considered the job creators. and they are but those are jobs in other countries. Plus these republicans are trying to make the states " right to work states" which means most jobs are min. wage. Just like one Texan said, she heard about perry's jobs because she had three of them... and is still poor. right to work states create a greater need for public assistance. I lived in AZ a right to work state and i knew several families where both adults worked full time and still qualified for food stamps because their combined income didn't bring them above the poverty level. we as a country are better then this if only the republicans would get their heads out of their own butts.
Albert, please bush cooked the books its common knowledge, but i do agree that Obama should have taken the majority and crammed a lot more down the throats of the republicans but he was trying to play fair. not to mention when there is a filibuster (I know both parties have played that game) it changes the rules and a greater % of votes are needed. Clinton had the same problem in his first term but once re elected he kicked butt and made changes. This president is by far the most intelligent man we have seen in office since carter. I am old enough to have been a first hand witness. Obama is a great man and leader. He is a good father and husband if there were any dirt to be gotten it would be out already. Even if we were not in such financial trouble we still need his job plan. All our roads and bridges were built to help get us out of the depression, but they haven't been maintained. Obama's plan would not only get people working it would also ensure the maintenance would continue and not stop. Do you know there is a bridge in NY that warns drivers to cross at their own risk? The deficit will continue to rise as long as the republicans refuse to raise taxes on the 1%. I just wish Obama would have stuck to his guns when he first proposed a raise on incomes above 250k. unemployment is up because of all the cuts republicans have made in their states. Like walker he cut education because of a short fall but amazingly right after he did that they some how "found" more money then he cut. If we held our politicians to a higher standard and said if you are caught in a lie your fired there wouldn't be a republican in office. I know there would also be fewer democrats.
I believe that the tax increase should begin with those earning 250k a year. there was a time when the wealthiest paid 90% and guess what they actually created jobs to avoid that %. and they didn't leave the country. giving them cuts just lines their pockets there is no incentive not to. do you think its right that a lot of them do not take a salary to avoid paying income tax instead they take it as capital gains which is taxed at 15%? capital gains tax should be closer to 40%.
house provides a deduction. i would love to see getting another deduction for the cost of college or better yet make all education free. I also believe it would be fair for parents who are putting their adult (over 18) children through college being able to declare them as dependents. why do you think 47% don't pay federal income tax because they aren't making enough to live on. But they do pay sales tax and most pay a state income tax along with SS medicare and medicade. if they are among the lucky low income who have insurance their share is also taken from their paycheck. This whole situation reminds me of a dysfunctional family with an abusive parent. The children either bond so close nothing comes between them, or the blame each other for getting the parent mad, and fight tooth and nail to put the other sibling into the fire. it is amazing how the fight is among those in the same situation. why haven't we heard more from the 1%. 200 of the 1% coming out to say its time to raise taxes is a start. and shame on the republicans and the koch brothers of this country who are feeding off the workers who made them that wealth.

nuts huh guess the name calling started from the one who cry's the loudest.

they was going to lose them either way!
so a negative and a positive cancel themselves out.
