President Obama is NOT standing in the way of "honoring our nations distinguished world war II veterans". one does not need a prayer carved in stone to remember and respect our veterans. this is reminiscent of what the bush administration did during the iraqi war. they said if you are against the war, you do not stand with our troops, you are unpatriotic. the republicans are saying to President Obama, "if you are against a prayer, you are against the world war II veterans, and you certainly are not a christian". the republicans act like they believe a prayer or a godly statement is the ONLY way to honor someone's memory or anything else, for that matter.

so now we have this christian "prayer" debacle, and just a few days ago we had the christian "in god we trust" disaster, all props to distinguish the president as not in touch with what the american people really want.

overall, we are a christian nation. the republican party is using this as bait for the so-called christians in our country to gain votes.

They were returning to their families, some with lost limbs, and other injuries. They had little hope of finding jobs. Much like this movement we see today. The promise was broken, so they set up a camp near Washington DC. and much like today the police attack them. Later the US Army attack them. Eric was one of those killed in the attack.

The revulsion of the America People at the attacks resulted in a decision by the Congress of $2 billion to pay WWI vets.

Another name you may have heard but do not know why, is Smedley Darlington Butler, Retired Major General, two time recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor. He joined the "Bonus Army" encampment and supported the group.
