Well, the big question now is, what will the House do? If they balk, it would seem two options remain: 14th Amendment and clean bill. The White House has ruled out one of these. As you'll notice, I don't see much else out there today -- although there is terrific news on the health-care front. Here's today's Morning EDition:

Here we go again with the media telling us how Democrats feel. Sorry I do not feel demoralized. I'm watching everyone republican and Democrat alike trying to save face and cover their political rears. So, what are they going to do for the American People?I want to see it in writing as soon as possible and that includes who votes for what, so I can go after them. I'm not casting votes for anyone yet.
Caught a great John Stewart show this morning about the Republicans complaining about the Democratic rhetoric.....Time we got some. Any way, he plays this Fox tape exposing their lies and hate against Democrats. Funnier yet he says he is going to list all their hate books that try and discredit anything the Democrats do. He says while they play the list he will have a snack. He pulls out this full roasted turkey and the list begins.
Yeah Mom.....he's a real policy maker that Stewart is.....
Keep getting your information from him. You deserve each other.
UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUh, what a lovely idea! I didn't post this for you, sarge. I posted it for the REAL American People.
Great post Thankful Mom
LOL at the cult troll.
I am sick of both parties, Republicans & Tea Partyer's are more like communists & the Dems. don't have the never to dig in & stand their ground, Obama seems to give in, he needs to man up. I have no respect to anyone that's rich "the job creators"!!! as they are un-american as money means more to them then this country. All people that vote for the "the job creators" & not raise taxes so they pay the same % we do need to be voted out, but then what would we get more Tea Partyer's??
One person can make a difference! When they stand up with others.
The President does not give in, He Compromises. Trouble is you cant compromise with the republicans. they said no to Obama and he said ok what ever you say.
The Repubs are more like Fascists. More Nazi than Maoists. And if they ever get total control I hate to think what it would be like. They'll drag my tush off to one of their camps. Supposedly there's one over on the other side of Newton.
Why is it the real American's have to pay for the rich & the poor, they want to cut, cut, cut programs that help the American people, but never, never do they cut foreign spending? We need road's, bridge's, school's, sewer's, water etc. updated ourselves instead of building them oversea's, give money to Dictators for their own enrichment while their people starve, stop the senseless war's, cut this out first then talk to us about cutting programs here.
ED maybe you can get this A-hole on to apology to not only the President but the whole country for this total disregard!!!!

GOP REP. LAMBORN: ASSOCIATING WITH OBAMA IS LIKE ‘TOUCHING A TAR BABY’
Are the reichwingnuts bigots?....Only when they open their mouths.
Pat Buchanan should be reprimanded or fired for repeatedly calling President Obama somebody's "boy." MSNBC not only tolerates, but encourages this racist bigot!
All That Is Needed For Evil To Prevail Is For Good Men To Do Nothing - Edmund Burke.
Mr. Burke was really on to something with this statement. Our nation has reverted to a point in time in which it fought so hard to break away from, minority rule! Currently, the United States House of Representatives has been TAKEN over by 87 freshmen. 87 out of 441 representatives are currently running this body within the federal government. The United States opted out of that kind of thinking when we revolted from the United Kingdom so many centuries ago! The minority rule seldom has the best intentions for the masses but works for their own gains. These freshmen, the minorities, want for the United States to revert back to the 1950's or even further back; but that's not realistic. Contracting government spending over 307,000,000 people during a weak recovery can be dangerous and leave the most vulnerable exposed. In addition, public sector workers will be adversely impacted the greatest since as revenues fall, workers are released. This has and is growing our unemployment rates on a monthly basis as more and more are being let go. That only worsens our employment picture because even more labor is pushed into the labor market with little job grwoth for even the currently unemployed.
Look, even the Speaker of the House has bowed to the minority and working desperately to appease them OUT OF FEAR! Compromise is not only a dirty word but it also implies WEAKNESS with this minority and its base! This is wrong and the world now sees it! We've refuted our very own stance on democracy by allowing the minority to rule. I do not disagree with the fact that our nation needs to address spending but it also must address revenues. Our deficit is driven by both factors and the denial of ACTUALLY (lost of revenues) paying for it. Here's a thought for us all, are you willing to allow the misguided thoughts of a "few" to become the "unintended" evil that will affect us all?
Ok, friends, I've watched the coverage of the vote in the house today. To tell the truth I am frustrated and a little bit angry at the American voters, the progressive Democrats, the Republicans, all the pundants, and last but certainly not least, The TEA PARTY. Here's why I'm angry with everyone of the politicians and voters. Let's start with the American voters back in 2008. We knew we had an economic disastor, we had high unemployement and our debt was sky rocketing, not to mention that Bush/Chaney got us into 3 wars that we had no way of paying. They took a healthy economy, blew through our surplus, cut taxes for their rich buddies on Wall Street, deregulated the banking industry and gave subsidies to oil barons. Need I go on, because I could. Being the smart Americans that we WERE back then we voted for the first black man running for President and we did that because he had a vision of turning this country around and putting people back to work. So, he was elected. But the moment he took the oath of Office all the Republican leaders got in front of the cameras and said that their sole mission was to make Obama a one term President. They had NO intentions of ever working with him, they did everything to obstruct new jobs, and economic recovery. They threatened the President that if he did not extend the Bush tax cuts for the mega rich, they were going to vote to end unemployement extensions that so many middle class out of workers needed. And, they needed those extensions because the tax cuts to the wealthy and the subsidies to Oil companies DID NOT create one job. They also threatened to raise taxes on the middle class, so they left the President with really no other alternative. Now, we have the nerve to blame the President for extending the tax cuts and NOT the Republicans who acted like the mob to get their way. Ok, we move on to 2010, every job creating package put before the Republicans was either straight out voted against or it was filibusted in the senate. No jobs, without jobs it costs tax payer dollars to help these poor people and they can't pay into the revenue with out a job. Here's where we went totally out of our minds. When the 2010 elections came around, we got lazy and didn't turn out the vote, The Republicans took advantage of that laziness and brought the new bullies in to run against Dems. They scammed and lied their way into office. Most of them had never held a public office before in their lives and they absolutely didn't have the foggiest idea of how to govern. But, they promised job creations, putting the middle class unemployed back to work, they promised to lower the deficit, they promised to make the world a rosy place for all Americans to live in. Well, being impatient like children often are, they voted these lunitics into office. Then the same people that we elected under false pretences, STABBED US IN THE BACK. They set out to destroy the middle class worker by stripping away their right to bargain, they went after pensions, they went after seniors, the poor and our children. They did it without the least bit of shame. So, here we are, we have a bunch of bullies running the show. For some reason the Republicans are afraid of the bully teabaggers and refuse to stand up to them.. They can't control their own party and their party is splintering. They create a man made crisis with threatening to vote no on raising the debt ceiling, something that has been done under every president except Carter. They take it to the edge of the cliff, they walk out on negotiations and basically tell us that they are ok with having us default on our debt. Remember now, Chaney says debt doesn't matter. Really, I don't know about you but it matters to me. If I don't pay my bills I ruin my credit, have my wages attached, etc. The Tea Party was perfectly willing to let this happen, even after they were told that default would put us in a depression worse than the 1929 one. So, they try to get the President, who is a scholar on the constitution to make a critical mistake and invoke the 14th amendment and raise the debt ceiling on his own. If he had played that card, he would have lost the game. The Teabaggers would have mounted the impeachment process right in the middle of the 2012 campaign taking the focus off them. They did not keep one campaign promise made in 2010. As a matter of fact, they cost Americans thousands of jobs and they created O jobs. Remember the Supreme Court Republican judges holds the majority. Did we forget that they were the ones who re-elected Bush, not us, the voters. So, now it's the 12th hour, the President can let this country go into a deep depression, or he can try to avoid it by accepting a bill that nobody likes. But by accepting it we avoid default that the teabaggers were so anxious for us to do. Now everyone is pointing the finger at Obama for all the trouble and we are not holding the Republicans responsible at all. Progressives are mad because the President gave too much, but nobody had any better idea or plan. We must look in the mirror, because the face that looks back is probably the one who shares the blame.
The Repubs aren't afraid of the Baggers. It's all just one big show as they try to get us ready for the New World Order. They are afraid of us however. That's why they are trying so hard to suppress the votes. They can't stand the thought of losing to the Dems again and they sure would explode if we kept voting Dem from here to eternity! And I hope that is exactly what happens because you can never let them get a foot in the door again.
I have lost everything, even my will to live. My circumstance, story, and cries for help, like so many others Americans, are being ignored. I am an Arizonian and what most would call a 99er. Arizona claims to have no funding for the residence that is in a similar situation, being the long term unemployed. I am penniless and in about a week due to an eviction, I will be homeless, with nowhere to go. I have been out of work long term since 2008. No jobs, no one willing to listen. Over the last couple of days I have been strongly contemplating suicide. I am tired of living and ready to leave this earth. What a Shame "WE HAVE MONEY FOR WARS, BUT CANT FEED THE POOR" (Tupac).
yourarticle was superb and right on.please do not disparage though, obama could have invoked the 14th and made an executive decision.that is what i wanted, but the tea party and its stooges the other conservatives, would have wasted valuable time on impeachment proceedings with there rantings, and obama could not be able to work on growth and job creation.now he is free to represent the peoplke and put the pressure on the repubs.now that by avoiding the tea party impeachment trap he is free to govern.

the president did the smart thing,he avoided the t-party impeachment trap and did not give upo entitlements,he is free to govern now without any constaints.so i donated to obamas campaign, fixed income or not,i believe the president will stand firm against the radical right.
It was discouraging to see the extortionist tactics of the GOP succeed, and it's even moreso to keep hearing about 'shared sacrifice'. I'll believe in shared sacrifice when the politicians take paycuts, health care benefit cuts, pay their own travel expenses, etc. as their consituents are having to do. They're willing and even bragging about cutting benefits that taxpayers have paid for then will doubtless vote pay raises for themselves at the earliest opportunity. Would love just once to see them vote themselves a pay cut and see then try to get by on what they expect 'middle-class Americans' to live on, but not holding my breath waiting for that to happen...
