Another promise kept...and our troops are coming home. You ain't see nothing yet. Reconciliations for Peace. Thank you President Obama, Mr. Commander and Chief.
What happen to the Republican Hacks on this?.....I thought they loved war, now they want everything to be fast and furious. Wave your magic wan and be gone.
I heard the Presidents speech and I was very satisfied with the timeline for the withdrawl of OUR troops. Remember Rachel when the special unit went in to get Bin Laden he was Watching Television. Do you really expect the President to tell all with a vision...?
Had he told that we were going in to get Bin he would have not Bin there...
I understand what he is trying to do building up a country but it is time to leave on a shorter time span. We need to fighter harder here at home for our human rights that the re-pubs are taking away.
I agree with Ed's guest, who pointed out that what President Obama did today was to lay the groundwork. Pull up the statement that the president made about investing in our greatest resource - our people. This is a profound change from the past 30-some years! Since Reagan, the US has suffered appalling neglect as we've focused on a mass redistribution of the nation's wealth into the bank accounts of the few. So much needs to be done to repair our damaged nation, and so many people already have their sleeves rolled up, eager to get to work. The overall quality of life in the US, listed as #1 among all nations when Reagan took office, has fallen to #34. That is a stunning deterioration. We are no longer the leaders in education, science, productivity... in fact, not in much of anything other than prisons. We now actually imprison a greater percentage of the population than the old Soviet gulag did, and most of these are for non-violent offenses that get no prison time in the modern nations. We have utterly turned our backs on fellow citizens in need, and now actually have widespread severe poverty, something I thought this country would never see again. It's hard to get a job after we've spent decades bestowing trillions of dollars on corporations that have consistently used this money to build factories and offices in foreign countries, exporting our jobs. More people are in desperate need of jobs than there are jobs.
Incidentally, Ed, once people lose their jobs today, most become poor. Not middle class, but poor. Here in Wisconsin, we treat our poor as criminals. It states right in Wisconsin's welfare "reform" policies that our govt accepts NO reason as legitimate for failing to secure a job. You need to know that most of our poor, homeless, hungry WERE middle class. We got tough on our poor, remember?
DHF, Governor Scott Walker is a criminal and a republican thug. It is sad that he can sleep at night with no conscience. He and the republican party and their storm troops are alive and well in Wisconsin, as well as other states if they are allowed to succeed.
I support the President, but not this much. Our continued presence in Afghanistan merely props up a corrupt government and serves no purpose. Meanwhile, we have real trouble at home. Unless President Obama defends our elderly and poor with the same zeal he defends Karzai, I am not happy with him.
I think Virg Bernero would make a hell of a commentator for MSNBC.How about that spot between Cenk Uyger and Lawrence O'Donnell.
Hi ED
I truly think the reason why we do not bring home our troops quicker is that when our troops get home their is no jobs for them. The REPUBLICANS saw to that. The DEM's should hammer this home and stay on them about blocking everthing this president is trying to do.They are trying to stop the recovery any way thay can .I think MSNBC should do a story on this keep your job in the military or come home and be a RAMBO.
If people think that binladen was the only person that we need to kill to end what is going on then i want to live in there fantasy world and remember what happened in the 80s when we left that country high and dry.Think people And yes I have had a kid over there too.
