Please give up, ED! He'll resign when David Vitter resigns!
You got that right!
Ed, get over it! The voters should decide if he stays or not. Just one more distraction by the Repubs - there are more important things to be discussing but this keeps everyone off topic and not focusing!
Ditch them both and let us move on.........They showed no respect for their supporters, their families or anyone else...No double standers
Ed, I'm going to stop watching your show. You are turning into Rush Limbaugh. You have a rabid way of returning to the airwaves. I DON'T LIKE IT!!! You let a little bump in the road turn you into a Republican sympathizer. I really miss the staunch supporter you used to be. Count me as an x-fan!!!!!!
Ed is all up in arms over Weiners' lies as if those lies about his sexual peccadilloes mean Anthony is not a man of character, but it's okay to act misogynistic and refer to a woman as a slut and still be a man of character...come on Ed, that's as hypocritical as a traditional, "family values" oriented, republican. Jeez!
Well, she is a slut!
i agree with carole wakeeman.. you have gone and joined linburge
Amen. I mean if we want to play this by the book, the hall-ways of Capital Hill would be empty. then at least we could start over again & maybe this time do it right. Also we could strat them at a flat salary based on the countrys median from the "middleclass" no company credit card or car, no expense account. A person in government that is a real person. You know "A government for the People,by the People" wow.
I agree with my wife, who posted this:
As far as I'm concerned, EVERY politician has a pass to lie about ANY sexually-related activities he or she may engage in for the forseeable future. Because it's NO ONE'S DAMN BUSINESS. As long as members of the press are willing to discuss a politician's private life, rather than doing the honorable thing and leaving it the hell alone, the politicians are allowed to not do the honorable thing, and instead lie about it.
Once we get over our stupid, puritanical views of what is okay and what isn't regarding sex, THEN we can start insisting that people tell the truth about their private lives.
I'll be voting for the first politician, of either party, that releases nude photos of themselves, and releases a list of all the sexual indescretions they've had throughout their lives.
Brown posed nude for Cosmo Magazine, he's in the Senate. Weiner should leave when Brown resign.
Well said! What if so called journalists actually spent this much time uncovering corruption or exposing the medicare issue, etc. They should be ashamed of themselves. "Reporters" like Breitbart are nothing more than hacks, the likes of which used to only work for the National Enquirer or The Globe. Now, Breitbart talks and every major network and cable network fall in line, covering gossip as if it were news. We have issues in this country. I'm concerned about MANY major national and global issues, but all we hear about is this garbage. Let the voters decide.
Your right, two wrongs make a right. Lets be honest, Democrats have no moral values so they are allowed to be sleezy, its expected. Why any Democrat would resign for lying, cheating, or stealing is beyond me. The ends always justify the means so Democrats are allowed to do whatever. If they had a conscience they would be Republican.
I don't think Mr. Weiners sex life is anyone elses business, however if he is dumb enough to put his business online, it is and should be subjected to the people who elected him. Just because other politicians get away with this behavior doesn't mean that it is right. Mr. Weiner should resign, not for his dumb behavior, but for his deliberate attempt to cover it up, which has me questioning his credibility. It would definitely suck, to lose someone with his passion for the cause, but maybe he didn't have the cause in mind with his creepy pics, so much as his cause. Also those staunch supporters of Mr. Weiner, I don't think are thinking about the bigger picture that the nation faces. By the way Breitbart is not a reporter or a journalist, yet as weak of a human being that he seems to be, it appears that he had the upper hand on Mr. Weiner's little problem, and if you let a person like Breitbart get the upper hand on you, then maybe you have paid more attention to the vixens of the Internet, then you at first realized. You are right once again Ed.
ED,There is a problem going on in New Mexico with the Reps redistricting....I listen more closely to your second show tonight and heard you mention that if Mr. M. had to run again in NY he may not win because his district will be changed.....Isn't this just another cheap way for the Republican to get their less than honest votes? I don't like it and I think it is underhanded. What can we do about it?
I voted no Monday and yes Today because this is really beginning to hurt the Dems fight on the issues and the GOP is having a field day with this.If anything Ed is taking a more Independent voice which we need. If more filth comes out about this scandel it will be even more destructive. I am not ready to throw my pal Ed under the bus because I have a difference of opinion. If you remember he did say that the GOP was wrong for saying the contribution money from the Senator was tainted money. If he was turn coat he would not have stood up on this point. I just hope this is not the main topic of discussion tonight so we can put this behind us quickly. Ed is right it is his show and he can talk about whatever he wants but if he is wrong or right the viewers want to move on regardless of what Weiners fate.
You know, I could not wait for you to come back. Now that you are back, I am finding it difficult to watch you. Rep. Weiner's sexual life is his own. Report on whether he is a good congressman, not on his sex life. This whole business that he lied is stupid. Of course he lied. Most people would when it comes to their private sex lives that they do not want public. That was a natural human response. Get over it. I just wish that the media would use the same tenacity to go after jailing the banksters as they do over a sex scandal that has nothing to do with how bad off our country is right now. Ed, as long as you are reporting in this way about Weiner, I will not be watching you.
It is an old diagnosis that men think of sex every ten seconds. What are they going to do put a Plesysmograph on congressmens genitals that will shock them everytime they get aroused?
All though I could care less about Mr. W's activities....It comes down to how effective he can be after this....I' complained on Monday about taking anymore time to talk about this....then here it is again....But you know if you were listening to ED, he was really trying to get you to look at the entire picture...to think! ... Maybe it was worth it.
Politicians are not religious figures, so why should they be viewed as such? are we all becoming Huckabees now? He did something on twitter that was odd and controversial. Big deal, People on twitter do things like that all the time. Politicians are elected to do a job. They are not elected so we can care about what they do in their personal life. As long as they are not conducting illegal activity, things like this should be a non issue. Our problems are too big for this kind of nonsense to be flamed into a much bigger issue by people like Ed, than it really should be. JMO
sodapop3443 banned, rereg of similarly grenade-trolling Chris-3163680.
The GOP have several who did worse and are still there. Let the voters decide when he comes up for reelection.
I agree. Ultimately, it's up to the NY voters. Please get off this topic, Ed! You're losing me on this one.
I would still vote for him if I were in his district. Republican trying to run over the middle class in favor of large corporations sickens me much more than Anthony Weiner making a massive judgement error. In my opinion he has not embarrassed his party. His party is embarrassing itself by allowing the conservatives have a field day with this. They should be backing Rep. Weiner by calling the republicans on their errors over the last several years. Did everyone forget about Arnold and Vitter already?
Dems need to stop throwing Weiner under the bus!
Here is something to keep in mind in 2012 ellection.Any Democrate who does not support Anthony Weiner in his emberassment delima should or most likely be a politician we the people can do without.Just because some of these politicians are democrats by title does not necessarly mean they're democrats, and are for the working class....It never ceases' to amaze me to watch some of these politicians expressing themselves as holyer than tho..
If he is a liar at Home, if he is a liar in Public, then he is a liar at Work !!
Liars must resign
Quit cutting and pasting! Saying it once is more than enough. You are either a Republican or lost someone because of your lying!
Hey, CBM, did you call for the resignation of Bush when he lied about the non-existence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq?
Did you call for the resignation of Cheney when he didn't admit to all the beers he had (other people testified about them) at lunch the day he shot the old man in the face?
Weiner hasn't killed anybody. And he hasn't even had adulterous sex with anybody, either. Grow up.
Remember Congressman Weiner is a human being. Human instinct says that we will try lying first to protect our own self image. His was a sad attempt and I would have had more respect for him to have told the truth or made NO STATEMENT at all. But for whatever reason, he tried the denial defense first. He's not the first to do that (most of us have done something similar ourselves at some time in our lives) and he will not be the last.
Overall, he is an effective and hardworking member of Congress who has an outspoken and fearless way of fighting for the interests of ordinary citizens. Can we give him a chance to do the job we hired him for in Washington and let him work to sort out his private life on his own.
He who is without sin... is the only one who should cast the first stone. I don't see Ed being that person and wish he would go on to some truly important topic. There is a lot to choose from out there.
So you do agree when we say Vitter got to go too. Oh yeah I forgot it's okay to do it only when you are a Republican.
Hypocrites.
one of the few outspoken dems. for the people.
I live in his district, am very disappointed that he lied especially since I just loved what he did for our community.....
But this is up to our district to decide as to whether he stays or goes........and up to his wife as to whether he'll be wearing a skillet out the right side of his head!!!!!
If he is a liar at Home, if he is a liar in Public, then he is a liar at Work !!
Liars must resign
Then demand that Vitter resign. I just returned from New Orleans and people are really angry that they have to pay back money from FEMA after Katrina and now BP is still sitting on their checkbook, nobody's been paid. If Weiner were their Senator instead of Vitter I am sure things would not be this way.
At least Anthony really cares about his constituency Vitter does not. And Vitter did much worse than Weiner. So did Ensign, Sanford, Craig, Livingston, Gingrich and the last guy from the 26th, now in Democratic hands since his resignation.
I hope Congressman Weiner does not resign.
Exactly how does what he did affect the good he does for his constituents? It doesn't! It would be stupid to get rid of someone who's doing real good for Americans. Separate personal stuff from political stuff. Lying about a personal matter is totally different from lying about politics. We wouldn't have had Bill Clinton as President if he'd resigned - and he lied under oath!
He fought for the public option when every other DEM wanted to compromise.
If he is a liar at Home, if he is a liar in Public, then he is a liar at Work !!
Liars must resign
If that happened we wouldn't have a Republican Party......
Mugs......and that would be a good thing.
We need all the hard fighting, loud, strong, Progressive, Liberal Democrats we can get in Congress, even if they do exercise a bit of middle school judgement.
If he is a liar at Home, if he is a liar in Public, then he is a liar at Work !!
Liars must resign
By endlessly repeating the same comment you lose value.
Ed, your New York guest is right. You and the media are the ones keeping this in the news under 'hot items'. Leave it alone. He was elected to fulfill a job and he seems to have performed well. His constituents will make the decision to return Weiner, or not, to elected office.
Drop it and find another topic to discuss.
I flipped the tv over to Ed's show about 40 minutes into watching Deadliest Catch. I promptly switched back.
Because he was STILL talking about Weiner. One more night of this sh!t, and i'll be permanently finished with The Ed Show.
In fact, i'll be finished with the whole lineup. 5 straight hours of Weiner's weener last night, and i've already had enough. If I wanted to watch FOX tabloid styled news, i'd watch FOX. MSNBC is fast becoming as boring as HLN with that Casey Anthony trial they cover around the damned clock.
I agree....Ed has changed. He was probably given the message to be an agitator and not a supporter. I have been disgusted about how he is harping on this issue when so many more important and glaring issues are out there. The republicans must love that he has gone over to their side...June 20th Keith is back on the air! He took the high rode; Ed needs to do the same. Shame on MSNBC for stifling a good commentator!
@ lucky Lady,
Thank's for the info on keith..I'll be there.
He should just apologize for lying. Not resign.
If he is a liar at Home, if he is a liar in Public, then he is a liar at Work !!
Liars must resign
Hey CBM ,
K.M.A.
Did you call for Vitter,Ensign,Rudy G,Henry Hyde,Newt Gingrich to resign? WHAT ABOUT Sarah Palin the half term governor of Alaska who quit rather than face some more charges of ethics violations against her? She was found innocent by her own handpicked panell.
So if liars must resign then I guess "W"and Cheney, should have resigned. And as for Liz,his daughter, she is a big liar.
So live with it or move to IRAN. There they will tell you the truth all of the time.
"So if liars must resign then I guess "W"and Cheney, should have resigned."
BRAVO JIM.
Let's see, Halliburton's non-competitive contract sending faulty equipment to our troops; Lying about Weapons of Mass destruction; condoning torture on one side of the scale, personal sex activities on the other scale. GEE WHICH SIDE IS HEAVIER? Who gets punished??????
You forgot the inside job on the 911 attack.
Bush and Cheney mocked the system and committed war crimes.Cheney, through Haliburton, picked the pockets of all of us while getting rich in the Gulf and Iraq war. They put our nation at risk....Weiner's behavior only put him at risk. He is an advocate for the people and will survive politically. A persons private behaviors, are none of our business. I think we need to investigate the women involved...did someone in the republican party pay them off??? Why would any woman of sound mind participate in this sort of thing UNLESS there is some sort of financial motivation.??
Right they do not participate unless there is money involved. Modern women who are primiscuous wont do anything without getting paid. So the question would be did he use taxpayors money? We know he stole time but did he use our money. This is one of Eds points.
This is absurd, there is no reason for Congressman Weiner to resign. I think he should run again and let the voters decide.
If he is a liar at Home, if he is a liar in Public, then he is a liar at Work !!
Liars must resign
Ed...you are giving the "drugster" more to talk about against Weiner! Give it up!!!
No, still don't think he needs to resign, leave it up to his voters. he lied, but what person in DC has not lied?
If he is a liar at Home, if he is a liar in Public, then he is a liar at Work !!
Liars must resign
Hi Idiot, Get a life...
Tim this guy lives in his mothers basement and smokes pot all day he has nothing else.
.......and he has been folded!
He is a fighter for other people; his sexual life is his own business; as far as the lies, given the circumstances, they're understandable, and everyone deserves a second chance.
If he is a liar at Home, if he is a liar in Public, then he is a liar at Work !!
Liars must resign
Now you are just being annoying.
Hey CBM382, have you ever lied? You act like a priest here, and we know how they are, so just shut up.
Yes Marty this guy lies when he tells his mother he has no money for rent but plenty for pot.
Given that a Congressman's term is only 2 years, let the poor man finish out his term and let his constituents decide whether he should continue.
If he is a liar at Home, if he is a liar in Public, then he is a liar at Work !!
Liars must resign
No, Shut up ED. Stop talking about weiners and get back to the real issues!
If he is a liar at Home, if he is a liar in Public, then he is a liar at Work !!
Liars must resign
CMB382 you've stated your opinion over and over and over. We get it!
Maybe "CMB382" is Eric Cantor or Reince Priebus.
Yeah, obviously a Repub plant, paid for commenting in forums. They hired hundreds of them before the 2008 election. I guess they're gearing up for 2012.
Ed, you are no better than Glenn Beck if you continue to ask the same question until you get the answer you want. Sluts in glass houses...
Mr. Wiener was and is a good congressman for his district. I can find anyone who would not try to protect his family by lying to the press, specially when the press have no right to ask those kind of questions. I wonder how did this guy Breitbart get those pictures, did the women betrayed him? For heaven sakes, even King David used his power to do wrong and yet God forgave him. Are we better than God? Is that the occupation of Mr. Breitbart, to destroy careers and marriages just because Mr. Wiener did what he did does not mean he is a bad person. I think that we should ignore whatever Breitbart publishes.
If he is a liar at Home, if he is a liar in Public, then he is a liar at Work !!
Liars must resign
CBM- Tell That to David Vitter and Tom Coburn.
CBM, don't you have anything original to say? Afrommi, you are 100% correct. I think someone should be investigating how Breitbart got these private communications between Weiner and these women. I think he might hire women to try to bring down Democrats - I wouldn't put it past him. Or was Breitbart pretending to be a woman on Twitter or Facebook?
And using King David as an example of how we should forgive wrongdoing of a sexual nature is genius. Of course, Weiner didn't get anyone killed.
ugh, can't do the show tonight. The right dings us and we ding ourselves. Anthony Weiner is one of the best voices of the people and should not resign.
If he is a liar at Home, if he is a liar in Public, then he is a liar at Work !!
Liars must resign
seriously? You want to talk about liars on the floor of congress? The place where the guy said 90% of Planned Parenthood business was abortions, then said that wasn't meant to be a 'factual statement'. Where they question the citizenship of our president and told everyone he was going to send them to death panels? And lets not even get into what got us into war. Jeesh.
I want Anthony Weiner to stay and fight for us.
Ed this time you are sooooooo wrong with you leading the pack for congressman weiner to resign I never saw you as passionate with the republican What the hell happened to you on your leave your not the Ed shultz I enjoyed goodbye for now until you get it together
If he is a liar at Home, if he is a liar in Public, then he is a liar at Work !!
Liars must resign
Ed, is it worth you loosing your friends to get higher ratings by turning gop? The other side don't need you to fan the flame. Should you be asking why Breitbart is looking at these things on the web? Does he have a dark side? Ed you didn't walkout when you had an outburst. You will loose viewers with all this anger you are exploding with each night. I muted the tv this evening while watching you for the first time.
Fanned and faved. He's acting like a GOPosterboy. I know one thing I am resigning from his show. MSNBC is getting too sensationalism for me and have the nerve to say this is what the people want. ED don't want to lose his job so he's hoping Joe (Dead woman body founded in his office) and his boy Giffith are watching him and saying. Well he repent himself. We'll give him another contract...NOT IF THE VIEWERS STOP WATCHING HIM GO ON A WITCH HUNT
HURRY UP KEITH OLBERMAN....TAKE ME OUT OF MY MISERY....MSNBC SUCKS, WELL OF COURSE WITH THE EXCEPTION OF RACHAEL...THEY LOSE HER AND THEN IT'S ALL OVER FOR BIG BONUS AT YEAR END!!!
I agree. If Rachel or Cenk leaves then I'm out.
Cenk Uygar and Rachel Maddow - and even Laurence O'Donnell don't think Weiner should resign. What is wrong with you Ed? Were you possessed by a GOP demon during your exile? You're acting like a peeved teenage girl who was dumped by her boyfriend! We need all the good progressives we can get - and Weiner is one of the best!
Darlene, you'd probably like Cenk Uygar - he's on at 6pm on MSNBC. But I'm with you - I want Keith's show to be on - NOW!
Anderson you said what many of Keith's fans are thinking. MSNBC is not my best news source anymore. Ed needs to watch his show and listen to the harsh words leaving his lips. I don't care for Ed's displays of anger.
there is an old saying in Washington......if you want consistency in DC get a dog.
Ed, you should be a person who is very familiar with the tactics of the republicans. Look what they did to Clinton....this is yet another of their ploys to disparage the party. You need to be on your toes and counteract this nonsense. Someone has paid off these women and set them up...find that story!! I predicted that you would be a changed person when you returned to MSNBC. I see they got to you....and what better way then to have you return and be the loudest spokesperson for Weiner to resign.? I am sorry to see you going in this direction. MSNBC, you lost me as a viewer.
I voted yes last night and I am voting yes tonight. He should have already been gone because as I suspected when this Wiener story first broke - this is just the tip of the iceberg.
Rosalee-- you know something others don't? Are you a repug plant who is telling tales out of school? If YOU don't know anything that others don't know, SHUT UP AND BREAK YOUR FINGERS.
Ed,
You are being fair on this call and to at least meet him half way to his middle ground.... He should have an almost immediate poll in his district (paid for by him) and get their decision after all the facts have been released.
Always like your shows.
Regards, Jeff
A. Weiner definitely has a problem. This situation is about character. I do not live in his district, BUT I would have a problem with his poor judgement. A pattern of lies is difficult for me to accept. I would totally look at him differently, always wondering how professional he was on the job.
If I did this in the public school system, I would be kicked out, not be able to teach in ANY school ever again...... What is the difference???? Not acceptable behavior for a grown adult representing us. Double standards do not work for me.
Very well spoken, my wife is a teacher and if she used this type of poor judgement she would be canned without a doubt. Also nobody would care if she was the best teacher in the world, she would be fired. So the arguement about what a great voice he is doesn't hold water. In fact I am surprised about how many people are willing to overlook this behavior, by simply comparing Mr. Weiner to republicans who have done similar things. Which is a poor arguement, since republicans and democrats are supposed to be different.
But what he did doesn't involve children and broke no laws. It was between two consenting adults. Poor judgement perhaps, and I don't believe that anyone is overlooking his behavior, people make mistakes, haven't you?
But if he was a real man, he would have denied talking to the press until he told his wife. Then, come out and tell the truth from the start. This is what I would have done if I were in his shoes from the beginning. Instead he chose to lie to everyone. This means that if he were to have something else to cover up, he would do the same thing, only next time he might get away with it. I think most politicians lie through their teeth, they just do not get caught very often. It becomes natural for some and they can back them up. The boys club mentality. Once you get caught, they step away from you and get some distance.
Either way, what he says from this point forward will be scrutinized in my mind.
