I had just noted for myself what a lot of commentators are pointing out -- that today's House vote on the debt ceiling is being done under suspension rules, which require a 2/3 majority and thus invalidate it as a test -- when I came across Jed Lewison unpacking even more reasons why it's bogus. I'm not sure I agree with Jed's recommended course of action in his headline, but it's definitely worth noting his point that, for no legislatively necessary reason, the bill includes blame for the debt. SPOILER ALERT: Bush's name does not come up.
The truly baffling, Rod Serling-esque aspect of the debt-ceiling fight, of course, is that Democrats are acting like they're the ones on the ropes. They're going to make major concessions -- kidney-punching the economy and struggling Americans -- in order to avoid making Republicans reveal that they answer to Wall Street, not to the Tea Party. That's today's Democrats--snatching economic calamity from the jaws of political success.

The nastiness of the Republicans is monumental. It blows my mind that we don't hear more "Recall" chants before they completely destroy this country for the sake of the wealthy and their own pockets.
I worked hard all my life and Medicare and Social Security were taken out of my checks and they call them "Entitlements" only because they stole the money out of them and they don't want/unable to put it back so they are trying to distract us. And out of every S.S. check they still deduct for Medicare. Being of social security age, an unemployed 99'er and a breast cancer patient who has had to let go of my life insurance because of the "no cost of living increase" for social security and prices keep escalating leaving us to chose between paying the utilities and eating.
sad that they would do this to OUR great nation just for some money from their bosses.
AINO`s American In Name Only.
The fact that Democrats are pretending to be on the ropes is a joke. The fact they think that they are going to go ahead and let the GOP get away with this is insulting our intelligence. We need a third party please! This is a big put on and the American people are the butt of the joke. Can you say REVOLUTION.
Speaking of suspension rules, When does Mr Ed return from being suspended by MSNBC for his "colorful" political commentary?
Today dummy.

Today dummy.
Now who is the dummy?
i love your show. i understand why you had to take last week off---but come on---enough is enough!! i want to watch ed on the ed show. i hope you will not just disappear. please hurry back.---NOW
I heard he wasn't coming back until next week. Bad mistake for MSNBC if it's true. The Roberts guy is okay, but no one has Ed's passion. (I still think this is the first step for Comcast to dump their pro-labor commentator.)
Bring back Ed now, then I won't have to watch something else at ten o'clock.
Your loss MSNBC
