33 other states have either made laws like this or are going to make laws like this. So far, more are going to jump on. The idea is to have nobody vote who does not belong voting there, Don't you want HONEST elections?. Walker is doing nothing wrong or illegal, neither have the other 33 states. Would it shock you that my state already has the Arizona law that requires police to ask for ID and check further if they can't show one?

yes it does shock me, because that law is specifically geared towards Mexicans, because they can just assume you are an illegal immigrant, because how else would you "look" like you don't belong in America. Plus you have to know the facts first, voter fraud almost never happens, even more than that, the types of voter fraud that do occur are almost never that type of fraud, the type of fraud that these Voter ID bills would stop make up an extremely tiny fraction of the already extremely tiny fraction of votes that voter fraud makes up. Even more than that though, this is a voter intimidation bill because is specifically targets groups that would not normally have the specific ID required by this bill, most of whom generally vote Democrat. This is nothing more than a desperate grab by Republicans to destroy our democracy and force their opinions on us by not allowing Democrats to vote in the next election.

The law is obviously directed at making it more difficult for the younger voters and minorities to participate in elections because they tend to move much more often than us old whities do. And of course these are the very groups that put the Democrats over the top in 2008. Walker's time is short. He'll be replaced with a Democrat next January and we can go back to regaining our rights as citizens. Look at what just happened in New York where the republican that resigned won by 72% to be replaced by a Democrat in one of the most red districtsa in the U.S. We have had it.

Jobogo, The law targets "Illegal Immigrants" not Mexicans. A person can not be stopped for "looking" like anything, he has to have caused the stop by doing something. Every police, in every state asks for ID when you are pulled over, If you can't give it to them, then they can ask other questions (did you leave it home, did you lose it, etc.) And you are right, you say "Plus you have to know the facts first, voter fraud almost never happens", I don't think Colorado voters think that...google "Colorado voter fraud". No it doesn't target illegal aliens, Unaffiliated Joe. It targets people who would impersonate an already registered voter in order to vote more than once. This is why the need for a PHOTO ID rather than other forms of previously acceptable ones. We prove our age, identity, citizenship and current address at the time we REGISTER.

I would take some real guts to do that. In my case, the imposter would have to know what precinct I vote at, be certain I hadn't already voted, risk a poll worker who knows me spotting the deception, and be able to both recite my address from memory and fake my signature.

The photo proves only that you are whom you say you are -- nothing else. This is just a subtle attempt to put a finger on the scales of the election in hopes that those lower income folks who have no car and no drivers license, and who don't have the financial means to keep their state photo IDs current, will just decide it's not worth the trouble to vote.

And don't give me that nonsense about how all adults need a photo ID to function. My 87 year old mother just gave up her drivers license, doesn't smoke or drink, has her money direct deposited, and does not need a photo ID to cash a check at the place where she banks. But even so, her no longer valid drivers license ought to prove her identity.

Randy, You misunderstood what "Jobogo" and I were talking about. We were not talking about the voter ID law, we were talking about the Arizona Illegal Immigrant law. Not true, anyone can hold a " registration drive" and sign up anyone who claims to live in an area. That is part of the whole "days required before elections" part of the new law.(how can ACCORN sign up a homeless guy if he does not have an ID?) So students will not be affected. Adults are responsible for registering to vote and should have an ID already,(if they don't, then they need to get one) Who will be stopped from voting by this law?

the IDs they need to use are not included in the list of required ID that Walker will allow to be used in this bill, he has limited those to certain other forms of ID that the minority groups and students, who typically vote Democratic, cannot vote in the next election, making it possible for him to continue forcing his extremely unpopular, not mention illegal, measures down Wisconsin's and America's throats.

Explain how Ryan's proposal will NOT get rid of Medicare. It turns the money over to a private insurance company. What is someone 65 witha preexsiting condition going to get for aN $8000 VOUCHER? It's a good way to give the insurance industry more profits and screw the elderly.

They have wanted to eliminate Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security for 30 yrs or more. It's no secret.

For people 54 and under it will end the simple, guaranteed program whereby you go to a doctor, present your Medicare card and are responsible for your co-pay. Instead, you will be given a voucher and told to find private health insurance for a person of your age and health condition with much higher administration costs for the same level of service, PLUS you will be expected to come up with the thousands of dollars premium difference between the voucher and the actual cost of the plan. All for the same FICA deduction we pay currently. What a deal!

And what about the cost of supplemental plans that almost everyone has to have because Medicare doesn't cover it??? Medicare has to be reformed. Only an idiot would say 'don't touch Medicare'

I'm not on Medicare quite yet, but I do the bill-paying for my mother, who is. I understand all about supplemental insurance. Turning it all over to private health plans with higher administrative costs is not going to improve anything.

I do agree that some of the fat can be cut from Medicare, because I see waste from over-use and from hucksters trying to sell seniors things like motorized wheelchairs which they don't need yet. But this won't be solved by turning it into a 'premium support' system that leaves seniors paying extra thousands out of their fixed incomes.

Randy, If NOTHING is done, in 9 years NOBODY will get Medicare because it will be bankrupt. Obama care takes out $500 BILLION from Medicare & reduces the amount seniors get. Obama care also creates a panel of 15 unelected people to decide what gets paid and what does NOT get paid. (look it up yourself) Those 54 & below (in the Ryan Plan) can chose between the same 4 or 5 plans the Senators get to chose from,(Haven't we ALL been saying we want the same plan as they get!) ALL guaranteed by Medicare and it was Bill Clinton's idea. No matter how it is paid (vouchers, tickets,direct payment, whatever), they are all guaranteed by Medicare. So Ed has you all frothed over nothing. And everyone forgets WE the People can demand that insurance companies either change to make this work or get booted from participating at all.
