I don't agree that citizens have to pass a 'history' test to vote, but I DO think they should be required to pass a basic civics exam like the one given to new immigrants that become American citizens. We need to acknowledge the privilege (not a Constitutional right) to 'vote' is a powerful tool for the citizen. Conversely, if used by an educated and uninformed citizen, his or her vote can be easily manipulated, if that citizen lacks basic American civics knowledge. Before you jump on Beck for going to Israel to provide his 'political points of view', how about Obama when he went on his 'Apology Tour' to Egypt, Europe and elsewhere? There are two sides to every story; each citizen is free to exercise their freedom of speech regardless of whether we agree or disagree with it.

Anyone who is a natural born citizen has the privilege to vote... unless that right is stricken. As long as your born here, you can be as dumb as you want and still vote. To restrict immigrant's (who are now citizens) voting privileges because they are not so smart would be wrong. It is against what America represents. I personally know a few immigrants who are more aware of our country than a lot of young Americans who can vote.

Obama travels around the world as our President. He represents us. Glenn Beck doesn't. It wasn't an "apology tour" either.

Peter, I think you misread what I wrote. All immigrants granted citizenship must pass a basic civics exam unless I am mistaken. I share your concern about the younger generation that walks around clueless about the basic workings of our government. You jumped the gun and assumed I was against immigrants. Couldn't be farther from the truth. I'm saying lets hold the rest of our citizens - young and old - to the same standard we hold new immigrants that come to our nation to begin a new life as Americans. Afterall, voting is a privilege, not a right.

Oh yeah those went well down south when they used litmus tests to stop black citizens from casting a vote in pre 1964 America. Funny thing that was the civil right groups sent law professors from the southern states to take a litmus test to see if they could pass. Well lo and behold, the 8th grade graduate giving out the test and who had very little understanding of the questions on the tests flunked those law professors. BTW, 99% of the tea bag nation don't know what is in the bill of rights let alone understand those rights. Nor could they pass a 12th grade civics test.

I don't care if a citizen is a Republican, Democrat or Independent - young or old, we should ALL be educated on the contents of this basic immigration civil exam - to understand the basics of our government, and then tested on it to receive our voter card. It has nothing to do with a litmus test. Just as it's a privilege to have a drivers license, which you're awarded upon passing a simple knowledge test, so should the award of a voter ID card to use that privilege responsibly; it's not a Constitutional right, nor should it be. If you're too ignorant to vote, you don't vote. It's a serious responsibility to be taken seriously by the citizens of our Republic.

Yes he did. I did not vote for Clinton ever. I voted for Jerry Brown yeah I know Moonbeam but he was the lesser of two evils and I liked the flat tax idea. I voted for Perot before that. I also voted for Nader.

Lets not forget Jane Fonda that sat behind a anti-aircraft gun in North Vietnam for a photo op while at war with America. During a 1972 trip to North Vietnam, Jane Fonda propagandized on behalf of the North Vietnamese government, declared that American POWs were being treated humanely and condemned U.S. soldiers as "war criminals" and later denounced them as liars for claiming they had been tortured. There was no outrage from the far left..hypocrisy.

I actually do research and check other sources for the facts vs. repeating the talking points from idiots like the ED Show. If you check the U.S. Treasury (government) website, you will see they list the deficit and national debt each year, going back several decades. As you know GW Bush became President in January 2001. We have had unemployment under every president but we are at 25 year highs in unemployment today under Obama

When, Obama took over unemployment was at 7.4% - 1 TRILLION dollars later!!
